Have you considered using food grade DE (diatomaceous earth) on your plants? I use it in my house to keep away critters. If they get in they die pretty quickly (but not instantly because it’s not poison).

Winter has returned here. We had three wonderful days this week in the 70's and now I'm feeling colder than I should be! You got a lot done in the greenhouse. It makes me wish I had the room for one. I hear you when it comes to scaling down the amount of tomatoes this year because we had such a bumper crop last year. Love Kevin's shirt. I'm a tomato too! We don't plant tomatoes until next month up here in Nebraska. It's actually freezing here this weekend and I had to cover our cabbage, strawberries and onions over night. I need to try the Amish Paste sometime. Don't they have different variety tomatoes for growing inside green houses? Our garden is mostly in ground outside. I grew contender and jade last year and compared them in our grow stalk containers. I really didn't notice much difference. They both did great. I tried the not spicy habanero peppers (last year) and they were prolific but honestly I wasn't a fan of the taste. Do you use epsom salts to prevent blossom end root? I heard that if you plant RADISHES and let them go to seed they create a crop plant for the squash bugs. I'm not sure how it works but, I'm going to try it. Good Luck! Yes, Summer is starting for you guys but, not for us yet.

I used to grow the Black Beauty zucchini and yellow crookneck squash but several years ago I bought the Golden Zucchini squash from an organic farmer, friend of my husband who sells at our local farmers market. Squash bugs had taken out my squash, those Golden Zucchini were the best I ever ate. They. take the place of both yellow and green squash so now I only grow the Golden zucchini. Grilled planks are awesome and we also are on the Ketovore lifestyle so they fit into our eating habits, they are great cut up with onions and cooked until tender with butter, and at the end add heavy cream to finish it. It is like a dessert it is so good!

Wow, you're as bad as I am. I am a fanatic about cucumbers 🥒 and tomatoes 🍅... Preferably sliced on a plate. Both of them lol. So I Winter Sow, and this year in my jugs I planted Homestead (repeat) Roma VF Pork Chop (yellow with orange stripes) Hartman's Yellow Gooseberry (yellow cherry and DELICIOUS) (repeat) Beefsteak Pineapple (orange tomato)(repeat) Then today I finally emptied it enough seeds trays and planted Dad's Sunset (red and orange) (repeat) Super Sweet 100 (Red Cherry) Black Cherry (Cherry)(repeat) Black Krim (Russian black tomato with green shoulders) Burgundy Pink Fruited (pink) Amish Paste (repeat) San Marzano Brad's Atomic Grape (purple and yellow) And more I can't even remember right now lol. The ones that say repeat, I grew last year. The rest are new. I absolutely adore the light, citrusy taste of the yellow and orange tomatoes. Now last year the only trouble I had with my tomatoes, and my Amish paste suffered as well I should mention, is I had blossom end rot because of the drought. I don't have a well and I can't catch what won't fall, so watering was a labor of love. I also went and got some tomato and veg granulated fertilizer and that mostly put an end to that. But with the dad's sunset, man those are amazing tomatoes. They are so so so so so so delicious. But it took so long to finally get some. They sat there on the vine and they would be huge and I would be waiting for them to start to turn and then when I thought okay this is it it's turning I can grab it and put it on the counter!!, I would go to pull it off and find a rot spot under it so... That was pretty miserable. But again, blossom end rot was my main issue and then not getting the Dad's Sunset to ripen! They would sit there day after day after day, and just not turn.

I get squash bugs up here in Maine every 7 years and they aren't as bad as you get in the south. The last time I had them, and once the squash vines were pulled, I put black plastic over the bed and left it until June when the soil warmed up. So far I haven't seen any and that was years ago. I also did that on the potato bed and it killed the potato beetles also. We don't have the option of growing a second crop.

I'm in Ohio and our weather is supposed to get cold this coming week. Like down into the thirties. We've had about the same weather as you guys have had but I hope your greenhouse stays warm. For about the next 5 or 6 days it's supposed to get down into the 30s at night. 😬 I have a small greenhouse outside that I use in April to put all of my stuff outside from in the house. I start everything in February or March and put it outside in April to harden off and grow but I also have a small heater out there to keep everything close to 50° or higher. I love the seeds from MIgardener and purchased a little over $300 in seeds last year! Everything I grew performed better than I could have ever imagined and I also put stuff together a lot closer than in years prior. I sort of used a square foot gardening method in my rows for the garden. Thank you for all the teaching moments! I have learned a good bit from you guys.

I'm growing in containers, raised beds and a small in ground space. I put my indeterminate tomatoes where they will only get a few hours of sun each day as it gets so hot and humid here they get hit hard and die. I depend on the hybrids for canning tomatoes because they handle the heat and humidity better and put on the majority of their fruits within a couple weeks are all ripe and done.

I have been watching you for a few years now. I have done a few types of tomatoes to find out what works best here in southwest Georgia. One that you kept talking about is the Jet Star. I ordered seeds for Boxcar Willy and Jet Star. I started them the same day in my seed starting rack. The Boxcar Willy and some cherry tomatoes took off rather quickly. The Jet Star did not germinate at all. I kept tending to them. About two weeks later I noticed two of the 6 I started popped up. Then another and then the rest. So they all germinated. But they lagged behind all the others for a few weeks. I finally up potted them and put them out in the greenhouse. Still a week later they were lagging behind everything else. About two weeks ago, I went to water the plants and was pleasantly surprised to see they almost doubled overnight. They are now the same size as everything else. They are beautiful plants. Thanks for the recommendation.
