Bulgarian here....I am so ashamed of this scams arround the sea resorts,as we are some third world country also I hate this dirty looking doner kebab places and pancakes places and small replica of expensive brands shops this all have to be closed by the government and we discuss this in our society and on the news all the time and things are changing every year,I belive soon everything will be ok.....about the taxis there is no law in Bulgaria that controls the prices of this service and they can charge you as much as they want and they are mainly roma people that do this job,on the airport in Sofia for example there are legitimate companies that charge the normal tariff,for example to the downtown you pay 10 euros,wich is normal,things will get better arround the sea as well I am sure

A female friend of me got scammed by the taxi yesterday from her hotel to Flower Street (The Strip). The drive was a 6 min drive and he took 20 Euro's from her. Ridiculous to say.

@@D-Thang_ Taxis is Sofia the Capital cost hardly anything. They pray on naive tourists. It’s so corrupt why there is no Uber, Bolt Taxi Apps. Tell her to negotiate heavily or use the bus. Tip: Pay no more than 50 to the Airport it’s only 25 mins drive

Secrets resort (adults only hotel) ,north end of the beach, has fantastic food on the All Inclusive,, no extra charge for Gym or room Safe.. great hotel & still walkable to Flower St. Also a bus stop outside to the whole resort. Cheers

Left UK to live in Bulgaria. Been here 12 years. Bulgarian people are wonderful, but went to Sunny Beach for one day. Absolutely awful place , Karaoke, shops selling overpriced tat, full English Breakfast, and generally getting ripped off. HELL ON EARTH.

Rule number 1, relevant to many Brit holidaymakers, there are many, many public toilets along the strip and the beach that charge a pittance to use. They are controlled by 'dodgy' organisations, USE THEM, do NOT under any circumstances dodge behind a tree, or hide behind someone's wall to relieve yourself, the result can be painful and expensive. Restaurants: Ask for a vodka, you'll be served "Savoy" (Cheap rotgut) but will be charged for 'Finlandia' at three times the price. This applies to all kinds of alcohol, Always ask for your favourite tipple by name. Restaurants, poppadoms are NEVER complimentary, whatever the waiter suggests, one poppadom and dips will be at least 10 leva each Sunny Beach taxis have their own contract, with their own fee schedule, Rule No 2, never use a taxi in Sunny Beach, ever. A couple of years ago, ATMs at the South end of the strip would 'crash' after inserting your card and entering your PIN. Tourists would give up trying to get their card back after 10-15 minutes pressing buttons. Another few minutes later the ATM would spit the card back out for the waiting scammer. I actually got beaten up waiting for someone's card to be returned. I have heard no reports of this in 2024. Souvenir kiosks will happily sell you imitation police batons, pepper spray, realistic looking weapons, knives of every size and style, good luck getting them past airport security. Alcohol and tobacco bought locally, the limits have changed drastically since Brexit, be absolutely sure you have the correct amounts, do not trust the shopkeeper selling you the stuff. Changing money, if you can't just draw cash via an ATM, ONLY use the kiosks with the crown symbol. Money change kiosks with 'buy sell' boards outside. If you have a pound coin they will BUY it from you at, say, 2.20 lev. If, at the end of the day you want that pound coin back, they will SELL it to you at 2.50 lev, making .30 lev profit on every pound coin that changes hands. Tourists see the 'sell' value of 2.50 and think they're getting a great deal. Keep your wits about you, "Keep your hand on your ha'penny" and you'll be fine.

2 shop keepers try to diddle me with change so be aware, restaurants sometimes try to diddle you with change, charge you a levy extra, eggs sunny side up are snotty on top as standard. The food in my hotel was okay in terms of same quality as the local restaurants. The local restaurants arent that cheap some chargeing £10 for full english so better to be all inclusive imo. They sell "big beer" which is about £1.50 a pint and is very nice but only 3% so beer that in mind. The Stella and Madri about £3.50 a pint but sometimes awfull. Taxi are expensive probably twice the price as Northern England and most wont negotiate the price either. Supermarkets were surprisingly expensive too like co op prices or more. All in all though a great holiday i was just telling you the negatives. The bus service is great and cheap, the hotels are great, the beachers are great, i hired a car for £50 for 24hours which i thought was great you can travel up to the mountains and go bear hunting lol.

@@travelwithcol4625 carnt remember the names but it was only a levi or 2 so not the end of the world just annoyed me that they think its ok because your English. We stopped at Hotel Tarsis which was quite good imo the food was ok what you expect for all inclusive quality. The supermarket next to Hotel Tarsis try to diddle me with change but wasn't a bad supermarket as long as you check your change. I would still recommend Sunny Beach and Nessebar is amazing if you want to get away from the rif raff. Good videos by the way very informative.

I have a great taxi guy/company I'm happy to share here if you are happy for me to do it..... They are well known across all the various Facebook sunny beach groups..... Every single time we called them, 15 leva from sunny beach to Vlas(7km/5miles) from Flower street ...... I'm guessing it would be same to Nessebar as its similar distance.

Hi Col I'm in Sunny Beach until September 6th. If you are here, I'm happy to meet you for a half hour chat to discuss stuff that many people don't know. I can give you a few examples. 1. The holiday season is only 4 months long which is low, mid, high then back to low again. So SEASONAL supermarkets adjust their price their items accordingly to the season. 50% extra free printed on the label will mean the price will also increase by 50%, so you get no benefit. In SEASONAL supermarkets, the price printed on the labels is irrelevant to the price charged. Handwritten prices in restaurant menus can confuse English people because numbers 1, 4 and 7 are written differently. The sea changes many times. For 2 weeks it is as smooth as a lake and becomes very clear as the miniscule sand sediments settle to the bottom. For 2 weeks it is so rough that the paragliding is suspended. Then comes the jellyfish, seaweed and tiny fishes that can bite. All this within the holiday season. I always photo the bus timetables as their start and end dates differ to the number 1 bus route. Whilst the start date is displayed the end date isn't. I've been stranded three times when the bus service finished midway through the day. Biggest scam ever was the rickshaw scam which lasted around 3 years. I don't know the Cyrillic alphabet but the following helps massively. You will see the word ресторант many times. Now observe with letters are different to the English alphabet and you get restorant Now you can make a good attempt at the hotels real name and the city signs on the front of the bus. As for the majestic, I bought at peak price but this was somewhat offset by the GBP to Euro being also at its peak conversion rate. If you look at the Majestic in your video, only the centre third is the hotel. The two outer wings are privately owned apartments. Hotel guests are all inclusive and have different coloured wristbands to apartment owners. Everyone has free access to the gym, also the football pitch and tennis courts but only during set hours when the animation team open the gates. It is chargeable outside these times. Two bones of contention are the mini golf is charged extra and non family of resident apartment owners have to pay 30 euros to use the swimming pool. Part of the annual fees paid by the owners (12 euros per square meter per annum - expensive for 4 months use) covers sun lounger replacements, pool chemicals but not the pool water honest! Interesting story about disco orange, London red buses etc

we got a bargain last night , left route 66 ( A shithole ! ) got on the train, which took us to just outside Nessebar ( we are staying at Trakia hotel , found a taxi driver, he said 20 levs, and that is what he charged us ! The day before, we got a taxi in the rain , he wanted 40 levs , but got him down to 30 !

I went to the Barber next to the bank across from the funny pub charged me 120 lev for a haircut and shave, owned by father and son from karzakstan , soon as they knew i was english father told son something in the language....... hence the price followed me to the bank to get the cash. seen him the next day and gave him a piece of my mind, made me feel better but people AVOID!

I went to a Barber shop and asked the Price he said to me it will be 40 leva with only the blade no scissors ✂️ and the hair cut with blended scissors is a higher price, he said if you want a beard trim is 30 leva extra! But I asked at a few and the one at the end of Flower street not far from Janet is even more expensive! A Hair cut in my home town in Northern England is £10 so 20 Leva so how is it possible that a hair cut is so Expensive in Sunny B! What was the name of the Barber shop please ? The currency can be confusing when you first arrive in Bulgaria, the Brits do not understand the Leva when they first arrive. 120 Leva is £53 so the Gentleman has been Ripped Off! I knew that most Hairsressers were Scammers anyway because similar things happened to others. A hair cut should be not more than 20 Leva. Another one of my Subscribers commented that in Sarafovo he paid 13 Leva for a hair cut but Sunny B has Special Prices for Foreign Tourists 😂

If you go to a restaurant and you have had a great evening with friends and the staff have served you to a high standard for some hours then you leave a tip.. yes 5-7 leva is a correct tip because the Bulgarians don’t tend to tip at all! Tipping is something the Foreigners do more than the Locals. If you go for a quick meal then no Tip is necessary although the staff make it very clear that they want tips. The guy at the kebab take away by the Barcelo almost forced me to leave a Tip, he said “give me a tip and I’ll do you a great burger” it was 12 for a small standard burger then when I paid 12 which was the price listed on the menu he said to me “give a Tip, you are English you have Money” By the way you should Not Tip for take away food in Bulgaria or Fast food. I stayed at the Diomand in May, the Location is brilliant and the hotel itself is good, nice reception area, there is a nice cafe bar, table tennis and pool tables, pool bar etc the pool is nice! The food was very basic so I ate out. Nice Fruit and Free Coffee and Hot Chocolate. How much did you pay per night ? You are located right by all the bars and restaurants

@SharnaDamms hotel Diomand is better than the Kuban! The Kuban is Located on the noisy bar street street so great location for the nightlife and all the stag parties stay there. Kuban is located 2 mins walk from the Diomand hotel. Kuban is an old hotel in a tower block but it’s acceptable! The Smart Line Meridian would be a better option or the DIT Evrika Beach. The Kuban is not luxurious but it has great pools and slides and it’s in a brilliant location 3 mins from the beach in the heart of the party area and by the best shops and restaurants

Yes I heard that the food is better at the Hi Imperial although it’s far away from Flower street and the centre so I do not stay there given the expensive taxis. @@travelwithcol4625 they provide a private taxi service with the hotel, which give you the correct price, it’s 20 lev for a taxi to flower st, if that’s not your preferred option you could always get the train or the bus is right outside, and they serve the branded alcohol in the lobby bar, the other bars they have they only serve the BG alcohol but it’s nice, they do different food for dinner like BG night, Italian, Greek ect they have a snack bar which they have desserts, they had pizza, fries, hotdogs, burgers, salads, for lunch, and for breakfast, they had sausages, cereals, fruit, all the usual stuff rooms are nice also and no you don’t have to pay for the safe, only thing you had to pay for was the sauna which I wouldn’t of been using anyways

Helena Sands or DIT Evika Beach are the Best for your requirements! Sea front! You can see the best hotels on my other Tours!
