👍 I was charged Double. A number of staff are involved in this Trick. My friends went there last week and waited a long time for their change, they said after a long wait they had to go over to the Waiters to ask for their change, my feeling is that overcharging happens regularly at Hawaii restaurant. It’s the one in front of the Glarus hotel ;)

I may test them myself and since I'm Bulgarian it will be more difficult for them to B.S. me... Another scum that was exposed last year was that the prices of stakes are in grams not per portion... So people will see something like 15 levs for a stake but they wouldn't know it is actually for only 100 grams. So if a stake is about 600 grams you end up paying 90-100 levs... Sometimes more..

My Bulgarian friend said that there are many Bulgarian waiters and bar tenders there who just wanna become rich quickly and make loads of money from the tourists. Check your change carefully in the bars and restaurants. We noticed that they get good tips and restaurants and Sunny Beach has millions of tourists. Some of the workers there just see Tourists as Naive Cash machines!

All of the bars,shops,restaurants are at it.The ice cream sellers selling ice cream by weight with no listed prices then charge £5 for a cone.Djannys do the same for steaks,menu price for a sirloin is 15 lev but in small print that is only for 100g and they say all steaks weigh at least 300g so your bill could be anything they decide.The mcdonalds that have no menu prices listed you only find out once you order,i had a big mac meal and double cheesburger meal cost 51 lev over £26.I was in that Hawaii restaurant the other night had cod and chips the photo looked great in the menu.What turned up was 2 sprats in batter with brown flesh flakes.The little trains that tell you they go to Nessabar only to take you half way and have to get another train for the rest of the journey all at 6 lev a pop meaning £24 for a round trip.

I knew it was a Scam. He said “you took a table” implying that there was a charge for taking a seat at a table, the can of coke was Tiny. The team are all in on the scam. I know people who went in and they waited 20 mins and they brought back no change so I know what they are doing. Yes! Stay Away from Hawaii, Bad Team who Overcharge you, they use the Last Years Menu Scam. Never believe it if they say it’s Last Years menu. Some Guys I met at the Hotel got Persuaded into a Strip Club, he said they made him pay 500 Leva and everything was misleading, he was lied to and Big Guys appear and make you pay more than the Bill. Check your change Very Very carefully at every Pub and Restaurant, I received Ukranian Coins in change

Col, Always ask for receipt as recently on flower Street (Arena, Central bar and Funny Pub try this regular), the waiter told me 56 Levs for drinks. I asked for receipt and it was 42 Levs.

I went in a bar the first night I went to Flower street and was charged a higher price for a beer than was on the menu.However I did go in there to use their loo. They are probably paying themselves a tip on the waiter/waitress service

Overcharging is a Big Problem in Bulgaria! So many people told me that they got the wrong change and it has happened to me many times over the years especially in Sunny B, Golden Sands and Nessebar. They charged you a Higher Price on purpose, it also happened to me on Flower street where I received the wrong change from the restaurant. I’ve had nights in previous years where I have gone home with Ukranian coins in my pocket. Theft is rife there so ask for a receipt every time and check your change very carefully, do not trust anyone there

I am very surprised at your report about the Hawaii restaurant and the price advertised for the Coca Cola and what you were charged.. I live near Sunny Beach (in Koshiritsa) and have done for the past 8 years and have regularly eaten at the Hawaii when I have family / friends over on holiday.. It is without a doubt one of the best restaurants on the sea front in respect of the quality / quantity of food and in price.. They have a hardcore of “waiting on staff” who have worked there season after season and are extremely polite / professional.. I have never ever had any issue with my bill in the past so am surprised that the management have taken their eye off the ball in respect of their pricing, as I said earlier I am an ex-pat and know many of the local people and your report is the is the first time I have heard that the Hawaii is working a scam.. I am due to go to the Hawaii with friends next week and will see if they have corrected the issue and will update you of what I find 👌

I have also been to Hawaii many times but what happened yesterday was Dishonest and Misleading. I checked the Menu outside with the PR and then I also checked the menu that I was given at the table. They treated me like a Tourist and tried to Overcharge me! When I paid them I showed them the Menu and proved them wrong but they had their Excuses ready and said it was Last Years Menu. If is a Violation of the Trade Descriptions Act to Advertise at One Price and Sell at Another price. They just lost a good customer and I hope other people will not fall for this this Scam. Most tourists just pay and do not even check the bill, check your Change Very Carefully against the Menu next week please

@johnwarne8941 if they recognise you they might not Scam you but if you are there and they think you are a Tourist then they will probably take the opportunity. Please go there one day and just ask for a Coke , before asking for the coke take a menu to check the price. If they do not recognise your face they will probably charge you 4.9 leva instead of 2.5 Leva as advertised

I went to sunny Beach in 1991 not long after the Berlin wall came down, and all they served was Bulgarian wine, Beer ect, there cola was sugary coloured water, not coke. on our last night we went into a nice lookin club and they had all the western Liquors on the shelf behind the Bar which we hadn't seen for 13 days of our Holiday,it felt like walking into Heaven when I asked for a Tia Maria for my mrs, the Barman looked at me funny as his English wasn't very good, so I pointed at the Bottle on the shelf, he then understood Grabbed the Bottle and said Empty Empty, Show Show.... every Bottle was Empty, so spent the night in there Drinking pink and white Bulgarian champagne which cost £1.20 a Bottle, I had my Biggest ever Hangover of my life after that Night, but what a Night😂. P.S did get scammed by people offering a Better exchange rate to the Bulgarian currency, where at last minute they switch what they showed you with low currency Bank Notes as they hand it over.

I chatted with a number of Tourists here who have been Scammed in various ways and other who were not, personally I would not risk it here my feeling is that you might get Overcharged or Scammed. One of my Subscribers was just telling me about the Steak Scam at 15 leva on the menu but that is the price per 100g and the he said the Steak can be 600g so it can be 90 Leva (£44) for a Steak not 15 Leva as expected

Here's a different scam in Bulgaria: if you rent a car from a local rather than a big name like Hertz or Enterprise they will find you using gps locator and puncture your tire, or scratch a side panel and then proceed to keep your deposit which can be 500EURO.

I spent 7 weeks in Bulgaria. One place had two menus. One to order from, and another t they used to charge with. I fell for it once, and the second time, I made a note of the prices. When they tried to overcharge me, I saw their overcharge menu. I then walk back into the resteraunt, and found the one that I ordered from. I showed them, and then paid them from that menu. Amazingly they then resorted to begging! 😉

Some Lads at my Hotel were out for drinks and got invited into a Strip Club, he said they shafted him with a 500 Leva bill. Also 2 Danish girls said they were offered Cocaine at the Viking although it’s a Good Bar and I like the music there, the owners can’t help it if one of the Bar Staff is a Dealer I guess

We went to the Diamond hotel it was terrible and all inclusive was a joke meal time was like feeding time in the zoo the food was cold and drinks all tasted the same their was signs of most of the door had been forced so get your fact’s right

I agree the food was poor quality, I just ate the fruit and ate out but it was cheap and it has the best location right by Flower st .. I stayed there given that taxis are a Rip Off! Went to sunny beach in 2019 with my family the most unfriendly place I have ever gone ,not that cheap clothes poor qaulity trainers ECT, we ended up going the Lidl as the food to expensive and poor quality ,not good for kids as not welcome in shops ECT ,scruffy looking men as pr ,is not appealing to go and eat is it ,bad vibe at the place tbh

You made some good points, the Trainers are more expensive than the Real Ones at 125 leva and the soles cave in, some of the Shops are geeedy and charge high prices! But the Beaches are perfect and the hotels are very reasonable! Yeh my soles wore I'm out in 5 mins went flat ,found the women.extremly cold to kids and aggressive in shops following around ,worst holiday experience tbh we was made to feel like lepers in our hotel was constenly stared at no hello ECT, was told to be quite by security at hotel to be silent by the pool as kids jump in (what) wasn't even noise ,shower door exploded on my wife no apology or condensation or care very uncompasinte, even the cleaners told my kids not to touch the tv remote ( yeh seriously)

How much did you pay for the Trainers? 👟 on Flower Street there is a Mega Expensive shop that sells trainers for higher prices than the Real Ones, she asked me for 125 Leva! Good recommendation! At Least they will not OverCharge you at LIDL like the Thieves do at Hawaii restaurant! Overcharging is a problem in Sunny Beach Bars and restaurants, too many staff with Sticky Fingers, check your Change carefully

@travelwithcol4625 Absolutely... Tourists pay way more. Prices for Bulgarians are cheaper. I was just at Sunny Beach a few weeks ago. Had this conversation with the restaurant and the people selling clothing. I pay half what a tourist would pay. Seen people pay 5lev for coffee I paid 2.50lev. Jean shorts tourist price 35-60lev I pay 20-25lev. Everything is basically more expensive when you aren't Bulgarian. Customer service is different. Peoples attitude towards tourist is different also.
