I LOVE stuff like Realms Of The Haunting, because it's so charmingly EARNEST- there was a time when the technology presented was likely considered amazing and revolutionary, and as someone who was alive but a mere child for half of the nineties, it's a wonderful experience to immerse myself in an aesthetic that is simultaneously very familiar and very alien to me.

I must respectfully disagree with Alex on the point about saying which engine was used. I don't doubt that these devs just wanted to make credits, but saying which engine was used is both a good way of giving respect to the massive amount of work put into the engine and a good way of telling others what tools are out there. Plus, most games that use pre-built game engines also rely on those engines for a good chunk of the mechanics programming.

year old comment-- but there is also a case with Unity[surprised alex doesnt know this having used it before] if you're using some versions of it they require you to put it in your opening credits to be able to make money off of the game

He found that out eventually! There's a later stream where he complained about it and chat informed him of the Unity Personal edition licensing restrictions.

I've got a soft spot for Realms of the Haunting. It's not a great game, but it's endearing in a wonky 90s way.

Hah. It got to Realms of the Haunting and my reaction was "Oh I have this game. It's not good."

You know, the voice acting on Grave Prosperity was actually pretty decent.

I really wish they would watch Ross's Game Dungeon of Realms of the Haunting after rewatching this old Watch+Play, they'd get a kick out of it.
Yes, this is everything i wanted it to be and more

Honestly... Grave Prosperity feels weirdly charming, the protagonist is at least more interesting and relatable than a Steve.

Simple solution for all the shitty horror game flash lights: have a way to recharge them, like the charger in Metro 2033. If you want challenge, make it so they can't have the light on while charging, so they hare vulnerable, but then they don't have to constantly hunt for more batteries just so they have light to hunt for more batteries.

One of my favorite things about these atrocious games is when Steam Achievements pop up - it's like the game is taking a dump on your Steam account... Also, when that FMV game started, I had to doublecheck I wasn't watching Retsuprae... :p

I'm sad that Alex and Graham thought Lucius was assbutts. I mean, I know its not great, but its head and shoulders above -Myst- the other games they play on this show. It has an original concept, actual production value, the length of an actual reasonable game, and few or no bugs. I feel like they were only saying the game was crap because they were expecting something different than what the game was giving them.
@mmurphy3737 жыл бұрын
No, they thought it was bad because the gameplay is pretty bad. There was no way of knowing how to kill Gene. Alex and Graham both applauded the idea of the game, as do I, but the implementation was poor. It seems to essentially be a 3D point and click adventure game. I have not seen anything else of the game and I wish they played more of it, but the game mechanics seem poor from what I have seen.

So Grave Prosperity is just a shitty brawler version if murder porn. What the dev think's is a sexy woman getting brutalized by monsters. *eye roll* How original.
