Maurice Lacroix is an exceptional value compared to those brands that play in the same market. Their build and finish are exceptional for the price you are paying. So many people criticize ML for using SL200 and ETA movements but so do other big name brands with lots of credibility like IWC, Breitling, Omega and many others. Now I am not comparing IWC to ML but we have to be fair when we make comparisons. If ML used their own in-house movements in their lower end watches these same lower end watches would have a significant price increase to those that do use their in-house movements. It is obvious that ML is making these watches accessible to more people that want a fine timepiece, the same strategy as IWC, Omega and others do. So please do not discount ML for using SL2000 and ETA's they are just doing what many other brands do in the industry but do not get called out for it.

I agree with this. I struggled because I really wanted a Tag Carrera Caliber 5, and could not justify the price of 3,000 for the same movement as my Tissot Powermatic 80 Chronometer that uses the ETA and costs 1,000 new (at least Tissot modifies the movement to some degree, it has no regulator). But I discovered ML Pontos and at least they use more decorations on the movement and it is less than Tag Heuer in price, so I had to get one.

Nice review imo. I just bought (not arrived yet) a Pontos S black Nato strap diver for 890,- euros as a Black Friday deal on the MauriceLacroix website. This offer seems to run till 30 November so i might be a very happy camper when the watch arrives. Thanks again for the review sir!

That thing is a beauty! I recently got to know about the brand and after going through their portfolio, I am really impressed with their quality and dial selection. I love small brands trying to fight their way among the high end market. It forces them to innovate and bring in quality products. Hopefully I can own one in the near future.

I generally love Maurice Lacroix watches, but it is a simple fact that you should not buy one new unless you are getting a significant discount. They depreciate significantly from original retail prices. This makes them great value for your money if you are willing to buy them gently used. I recently found a nice Pontos line Rectangulaire (which is not very "in style" at the moment) for 14% of original retail. It is beautifully finished. ML makes nice watches and they can be had very reasonably if you make some effort.

I have the same brand new for sale, that I am selling with a 30% discount, never wore it, just received it for Christmas.If someone is interested, I live in Europe, you can send me a private mail(I don't know if it's possible here) or leave your email here on youtube :-)

I love mine. The fit and finish are awesome. Much more comfortable than the LLD I had a couple of years ago. I mostly wear it with a Barton quick release Elite Rubber strap that pairs nicely.

I believe Tudor unveiled their North Flag at Baselworld March 2015 by the time you published this video? The North Flag retailed at USD3550 have an in-house movement, the MT5621... and soon followed by the Pelagos and Black Bay. There's nothing wrong with the Pontos, it's a nice watch and I nearly bought one but I'm glad to have purchase the NF instead.

How well the movement held up since you got the watch...(considering that it is a Sellita base, and there are mixed opinions around it) Has it been keeping claimed 38h Power Reserve?

What do you recommend from the below 3? -Frederique constant worldtimer blue dial. -FC Slimline moonphase blue or Ivory dial. -Maurice Lacroix worldtimer. Would appreciate ur advice as expert, these watches got big discounts at the moment and m considering one.

amazoner0cks We hate being referred to as experts. We are just regular guys who have seen countless watches through the years with enough knowledge to do reviews. I don't think anyone is an "expert". You should choose what you like the most, all are nice watches and would serve you well. My personal choice would be the ML world timer, as the look appeals to me the most. But that is just me.

If you ever get the chance could you please take a look at the Wilson Combat diver? Would be highly appreciated.

Hello. Thanks for suggestion. That watch is just a pvd coated version of the Bernhardt Field Diver ,with a Wilson combat logo on dial. Many reviews of the Bernhardt Field Diver out there. It is truly the same watch besides the color and logo.

Whats the difference of sw200 with sw200-1?
@watchreport

The 200-1, is the newer version, addressed some issues with winding mechanism and uses a Novodiac shock absorber.

bracelet is the let down. Would not spend that amount on a watch with a bracelet i coudnt size perfectly. This should never be an issue when spending this much.

dr 70194 lol. No it’s not. Crowns in different place, different case, different dial. At the end of the day, many watches can look similar. And if that’s not ok, then there would be like 20 brands or so out there and no more.
