WATCH: Sacramento Republic FC advances to US Open Cup final with win over Sporting KC

The USL's Sacramento Republic FC took down the third straight Major League Soccer opponent, as Rodrigo Lopez scored the decisive penalty kick to beat Sporting KC and advance to the championship round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup where they will face Orlando City SC at Exploria Stadium on Sept. 7.
Following the dramatic victory, Lopez, goalkeeper Danny Vitiello, head coach Mark Briggs and general manager Todd Dunivant discuss the historic victory.

@@tobiogunsina8426 because it brings more fans from lower division teams once they promote. There's a big fan base in league 2 and once they grow so do their fanbases, then so does the marketing, then so does the international broadcasting

@@frenchchicken2799 lower division teams don't have fans because football is in its infancy in the US. A promoted team wouldnt have nearly the recognition or fans that an established MLS one would and Europeans don't really care about pro/rel, they care about good football
