This is how it’s always been between me and my big sister. Every night she would wish upon the first star for a baby brother or sister since she didn’t want to be an only child. I was born when she was 10. We’re MUCH older now but nothing has changed and I am so grateful for her every day.

My great niece and nephew aren't twins but they have always acted like it. They are always in close physical contact. I think the fact that their parents both drank bonds them together. It fascinates me bc, as a therapist, i see a lot of kids in this situation who throw their sibling under the bus to compete for mom or dad's attention. I'm grateful they are supportive of each other and haven't either become the parentified child.

Yes, I’m your same age. I would have adored my new sister, (and did nonetheless), but we were kept at arm’s length in the 1950’s (America at least) it seemed, and not always allowed to bond with and love our new siblings.
