If you want to see someone actually get to SSL without mechanics watch Flakes’ series. This series is okay but clearly not done without mechanics. If flakes even accidentally does anything mechy he will just let the opponent score lol

Exactly - and Flakes has to play more passively as a result and find the right opportunities with perfect positioning throughout. Luke air-dribbling with air roll corrections over the two opponents and placing the ball upper-right is not in the spirit of what this series should be.

To be fair I think Flakes definitely uses mechanics as well but only out of necessity. Can't get to SSL without ariel mechanics for example. The difference seems to be Flakes uses very below average mechanics for the rank where as Luke uses above average mechanics for the rank.

Yet, he would just keep plodding along. My favorite was when he was around GC3 in 1's and he played someone who was just like "who are you? you are always in the perfect position I can't do anything."

I think your mechanics are still too good in this series. You are controlling every game and smoking the opponents with better game sense, positioning AND mechanics. They are too clean and consistent and at or above the level that you play against. I think the spirit of a series like this is to show how you can approach games with mechanics below the average of the level at which you are playing. A clean, consistent air dribble with minute adjustments, precise placement and air roll in champ is kind of the cream of the crop - right?

Everyone getting mad isn’t really understanding the challenge imo. Yes it says “zero mechanics” while I understand his cuts, game sense, and first touches are easily better than champ level, but he hardly uses any mechanics. If he didn’t use anything he would never progress through ranks. Y’all should be grateful he’s doing this and explaining it the way he does to help you get through champ.

Forfeiting being down three goals with two minutes left is still doable even if you're the same rank as everyone else, unless you really not vibing with your teammate but I doubt that's the most common reason, most of the time is just "Three goals? Better try my luck in another game and the enemy team FF early instead of sweating here". Unless you really care about your time, not playing bad matches just feel detrimental for your improvement tbh.

the best person to watch this series style is for sure flakes, he plays to their rank and is much smoother in his no mechanics play, but spookluke is using mechanics that are higher than the rank, or using mechanics at all, atleast flakes trys to not use literally any mechanics

I'm a hard champ and tbh although the video is great, I do not see people (or myself) getting clean air dribbles like that or having early/clean reads to that degree. The thing that is lacking which should make it realistic is that he doesn't have the same second guesses or mind-blank moment like real champs can often have. His recoveries can (at times) also seem a little too clean for champ gameplay. Incorporating air-roll into his shots too?... to be honest, I don't ever remember seeing that in champs... This feels more like a Grand Champ video, maybe? just my opinion, however, still entertaining nonetheless.

I feel one of the most important advices from Luke is, get a teammate. The reason being if you solo queue 2s, you are often going to get a placement player on team against a teamed duo. I got nothing against placement players but, when you get that experience often it feels almost impossible to rank out of c1/c2

No matter who does these types of videos, as long as it’s a player who’s rank is much higher up, it doesn’t matter how much they display mechanics. They already have the mindset and iq to make smart plays and outsmart their opponents every time. It’s not fair no matter what you try to do unless you purposely throw your match. That said, luke doesn’t go overboard and uses mechanics useful to the rank and shows why they work without going overboard. Granted the air dribble was a bit much, but things such as his positioning and car control are things that help him perform well in these lobbies that the rest of the players don’t have. They are worth learning and mastering and I believe Luke is trying to show why

Can someone explain why people are comparing this series to Flakes? Flakes is a professional RL player Luke is a GC3, not even SSL. Not trying to defend Luke too much here, but c'mon. Just because Flakes has like the perfect no mechanics series doesn't mean he can try it on his own terms. I think Spookluke should brand the series differently though. Like, how to rank up with nominal/ normal rank mechanics. But comparing him to Flakes just isn't fair. This is just smurfing, no matter how much you try to dumb down your mechanics to make it feel fair for the opponents it's still not fair to them. You have the positioning, the decision making, the shot placement and awareness of an SSL. if you're on ps4 you can try turning vertical sync off. Makes the res and screen breaking a little worse but input lag is drastically decreased.
