A couple of things: First, there is an option called "flushing volumes" in Bambu Studio and Orca where you can lessen the waste. You can also print the waste to an STL if you want to add an extra item on the plate that you don't care about the colors of (I print the waste to screw driver bit holders). You can also print the waste to the infill of the objects you're printing. There are also more efficient nozzle profiles and updates coming from Bambu to reduce waste. You'll never get rid of all of it, but you can greatly reduce it. It's also important to note that the waste is the same if you print 1 item or 10 of the same item. My favorite advantage of the AMS is that when printing PLA you can use PETG as your interface layer between the supports and the item you're printing so there is very little waste and the support basically just fall off.

I think it is just a nicely calibrated machine with a good firmware. I still use my CR10S but replace d firmware with klipper, an ABL and a textured bed. It is perfect. Buying a small bedslinger for 300 imo is absurd since you can only print PLA and PETG so no real value for functional applications. P1S is just perfect. This is just money making for BL which had stated no more bedslingers. The real evolution in 3D printing will be when people realize that buying PLA and bed slingers just helps 3d printing technology back as they make profit without really innovate.
@slowcyclist4324Күн бұрын
They innovated in the UI and design process which makes it accessible to the average user. I’ll be frank; I bought this for the simplicity that everyone is raving about. Could I do more with the money I spent given sufficient time and effort? Probably. But I have other more impt stuff to do with that time, and so here we are
@tunedstylespecsКүн бұрын
@slowcyclist4324 fair enough, my point is not to judge anyone who owns a bedslinger, I just want companies to innovate. I would like to see companies producing products that deliver functional end result than a device which is limited to PLA and PETG. My main issue is that even PETG is unreliable for functional stuff hence there is no real value to bedslingers. Still people are buying PLA and beslingers because are cheaper and easy to use. Companies rely on this inertia from the users to go forward and profit with minimal investment for products that might become opsele in the near future.

I would prefer Linux/Windows analogy more tbh.. Because even Android is fairly closed system which you can jailbreak but that doesn't necessarily let you do more than get root access. As for Linux/Windows analogy.. Linux is an OS you can build from ground up yourself if you want, or use a frame someone else has made or use whole OS someone has made.. Lot like with 3D printers you can build your own or buy some sort of kit and so on.. And Windows is basically the A1, it just runs and works without the user having to actually know more than some very basic info.

PETG would be better for your car. No doubt its gonna heat up and possibly warp, but the UV resistant properties of PETG as well as the heat resistance would be a more logical choice. About the AMS waste, You can drastically cut down waste by playing with the flushing volumes. The default 1.0 is waaay too much. Upon my month of usage, I have found a range of 0.30 - 0.50 is the "butterzone" dependent on color pallatte. There is also another method bambu is working on for a firmware update, it will soon retract some of the filament before cutting and starting the purging thus wasting even less. Another way to help make it not as wasteful is to print several models in the same print. A prime canidate for that would be the pikachu. Something you should have also done for the new users watching this video (good job btw!) was to enable the dynamic flow calibration. It truly does a great job. Will be good for the user who just wants to print without doing manual calibrations.

The camera though... it feels almost like a camera designed to spy on you rather than show you a cool print time-lapse. 4:57 just look at how much of this guy's garage is visible and how off frame the printed object is! I think I'm going to build a clear case for my printer so that the camera will only see reflections of the printer most of the times.
@Tomothy-e3b5 ай бұрын
Speaking of spying, The camera streams over the internet via bambu 'cloud' servers. No peer to peer on the LAN. Pretty much the same mechanism as how you send jobs to the printer. I don't know where their servers are but I have a good guess where. Make of that what you will.

Maybe You should make a video about Bambu Lab (and sister companies) patents. You'll see what they have patented... Bambu Lab problem is their close intellectual property aptitude. A patent owner will not allow someone else to have a derivate patent since will close that owner free development of their i.p.. With open source they instead have no problems in including that new design in their own products.

I'm watching this as I want this printer. I have a toybox, but want to move on. Is there anyway to reuse the waste or purged pla?
@TwoMooseDesign5 ай бұрын
Not as of now for an affordable set up, I have seen people put the waste inside other prints. You can also make multiple prints at once so there is less waste. The printer is great and easy to use’s unfortunately without spending alot of money there’s not much we can do to reduce or recycle the waste.
@TwoMooseDesign5 ай бұрын
Prusa is the only printer with multiple heads that I’m aware of that eliminates waste but it’s very expensive. You can look up ways to reduce the waste of the Bambu in the settings you can definitely cut it down a bit
@msas6020Ай бұрын
@@TwoMooseDesignI saw a KZbin video where someone used the waste inside of a cast, I think he had melted it and then poured it in. And it made a beautiful skull. It was multicolor of course, but it looked really nice how it came out. Just an idea instead of just throwing away the waste.

Great video. I went to the A1 website. There is an Accessory Bundle. But, I don’t know what the options are good for. Can you enlighten me? Thanks.
@TwoMooseDesign2 ай бұрын
The accessory bundle gives you a new hot end but the printer should come with an extra. You also get an extra build plate which is nice but not really needed. It’s basically spare parts on a minimal level. Build plates have different uses, for example a smooth sheet will leave a smooth bottom and the plate that comes with it leaves a textured bottom on the print.

@@TwoMooseDesign Ok thanks. I tried to read the bottle from the screen and I thought it said "Medium" so I ordered 2 - 4oz bottles from Ebay. I will hunt down some thick too so I should be all set. Gotta set up an Access Point for the WIFI today and soon I will be printing. Now I have 11 3D Printers including 1 MK4 in an enclosure. :) And I figured out the correct part number for the thick is either 6221 for the 2 oz size or 6222 for the 4 oz size. I have 'older' machine with wheels, and actually I think they are great! What maintenance do they need? I just use Ender 3 for two years and more and never touched those wheels after I set them up. What 'little' frustration is it about? What can give you a big frustration is maintenance of rail carets. You will understand when you will have trouble with those. = ) As for color printing, when it changes from certain layer, you can print that on any printer which support filament change on the fly. For example... Ender 3 = ) So AMS gives automatically color change. Also you actually can reduce waste percent, for example add some figure which does not depend on any color, and use it as 'waste' tower. You will get a usable 'bonus' item which you can use or sell. But it should be tall enough for the last color change takes place. Thanks for honest review. Not everyone cares about opensource, but it is a good point at least to inform people of what this device allows to do with it. As far as I know there is an opensource firmware for X1, if I am understand correctly it is X1Plus. Bambu was not very fond of it, but after all they allow to use it in exchange of loosing warranty(which will end in a year anyway). So at least for X1 there is some alternative software. But hardware is in big question. Also I heard on some markeplaces there are already alternative components, but not all of them. I personally prefer Ender 3. 'cause it supports filament change, load and unload, filament movement sensor, and who knows what else? You may say 'But my XYZ printer also supports this'. OK, but I want you to remember Ender 3 is already more than 5 years on the market. And new features are still available (because of Marlin firmware and opensource structure). But of course you will need to spare some time to set it up, may be to debug and fill a bug report. Luckily now people who just want to pay to print can just -place order on 3d farm- buy a Bambu printer.
