loved the interview! I came here for Lalo, I'm definitely staying for the bearded dad! I'm fortunate to have started in IT from the beginning and didn't have to go through working in construction. I would encourage you to make a solid plan first. Then, if needed, get a second job to help cover expenses until you get your income back up. But a plan is a must.

Great video, I'm 56 I finished a trade school for Computers, but have not gotten my CompTia A + yet. Was wondering, do I still fill out job applications for I.T or wait till I get my A+?

Start now.. the worst they can say is no.. but you never know when you might be the most qualified person to apply... I got my first job without the a+

I would like to be a Network Engineer. I know i need to start at the bottom. I just got a call about a helpdesk position. Its is a pay cut. I just hope it helps. @@TheBeardedITDad

That is exactly how i got started... I took a $20k/year pay cut but in 3 years I was making more than i ever had as a Director of Network Operations.

You can star with CBT and it help you get certified. They have tons of resources covering different topics in tech.

Yes it took me 3 years to go from help desk to Director of Network Operations

Yup. I started at 24 years old, and it took me about 4 years to get where I wanted to be job-wise.
