Been a subscriber for a long time now. Great vids btw. Can you comment/make a video of the pro’s and cons of ‘medicine with foundation year’? I know you have a video on foundation year medicine but specifically these qu: 1) Does your degree say ‘medicine’ or ‘medicine with foundation year’? (Is doing a foundation year seen as lesser in anyway?) 2) Apart from paying an extra 9k, what are the other cons and pros?

Happy to answer your question now! Pros: 1. You get an extra year to settle into university before medicine starts, this allows you to become independent and work on some soft skills required for uni/med. 2. You meet people more people as youre essentially a fresher twice 3. You get to familiarise yourself with the area, doesn’t sound like a big deal but it was nice to be able to know the ins and outs of the area I lived in before i started medicine Cons: Not that many tbh, the fact that you basically do A levels all over again, or that you have to pay 9k extra and some people felt like they didn’t fit in as the foundation cohort are a very small group, this didnt affect me, I don’t think you should let it affect you either but I can understand why people felt like they didn’t fit in, medics are very tight groups of friends and can be difficult to fit in, especially as a foundation student but most of my friends were outside of medicine anyway so no problem

Depends on your university but if you build a strong enough case I’m sure you’ll be able to!
