There was ZERO chance I was going to cut my hair short, just not going to happen. I have dark hair but had highlighted blonde for 15 years and decided first to go back to my natural colour then a month later I decided no more dye. So while going grey I have had tricolour hair (it matches my old dog perfectly haha) Like you, the ends were driving me nuts where they were fading to blonde. My hair was well below my shoulders so I had a bit to work with. I cut my own hair and the last one I took 4 inches off which left me enough length (collarbone length) to play with but I got rid of so much of the old damaged bleached stuff it feels awesome. My next cut will probably be December and that will be maybe an inch and a half and the cut after that March 2024 will be the final bit of processed hair. I hadn't had natural coloured hair since I was about 30 so it's lovely to see my natural colour and my lovely silver almost 30 years later. I LOVE that I have two very silver streaks at the front but I mostly just love having unprocessed hair that doesn't need 57 products to make it feel healthy. Great videos mate =)

Same, I am 9 months in, and the brassy orange makes me crazy. I am on the highlight lowlight routine.

thank you so much for your support. my hair is dark brown / black and 2.5 feet long. I'm about 3 months in and I love my silver hair. it is the most inspiring thing for me. it's almost magical. . . all different colors. I thought I'd eventually blend it grey but no that's not me anymore. I'm just going to go for it and focus on the silver magic. thanks again for what you're doing. it definitely helps.

I went cold turkey to go silver abour 5 years ago. In saying that . I have salt and pepper natural hair. I always have my hair in a bun so it was quite easy for me to grow it out. Still growing long and strong. Im 60 years young.

I have been using overtone while growing out grey. I think I might have learned of it from you. Has saved me!

Awesome video!! The blend looks amazing on you! 👌🏻 I tried using color remover on my dyed black hair and, spoiler, it doesn’t do much of anything!! Gray hair is so beautiful and I feel like it really lights up the face.

Oh I tried color remover, I dyed my ends dark myself, I used Dawn dish soap, you meme it. But the color blending was key!

@@grayawhile They did a great job, it looks totally natural!!

@aenigmatica8 yes that's when I knew I could keep it long and get to the end. After the color blending I only used overtone on the ends when I needed it. I actually STILL have a little bit of dye left it my hair is almost to my waist when straight. It takes a long time but you stop feeling awkward pretty early on!

I toned my colored hair a beige blond to get rid of the brassiness that has helped a bunch. :) with wella T15 and 10 volume deposit only and will redo this on my grow out when it gets brassy which this will need to be done way less than my weekly root job and less damaging. ( was using Semi color though it never washed out.)

First I want to say I always enjoy your videos. So helpful! This video though, did you notice, you happen to repeat each point twice as explaining. It was a bit distracting. But overall, thank you so much for posting silver hair journey tips and advice! ❤

Ha! I do that intentionally to drive in the point!

Thank you so much for your videos. I truly enjoy them. There is also the part dye technique to avoid the skunk stripe. I stopped coloring my hair in June 2022 and I have only been coloring my part. I love my silver strands that appear to be highlights. There is no skunk stripe! I will soon stop dying my part and part my hair the other side to let my silver grow!
@grayawhile Жыл бұрын
Yes that technique is brilliant! I didn't know about it until I was far in!

Sounds like a very effective method! I might start this. My dyed hair is a dark warm brunette while my natural hair is growing a very cool ashy brunette with some silver. The part dying might let my natural hair to grow out a bit longer and then I can change my part and reveal the result. Awesome tip, thanks!
