I've raised a bench 4 to 5 inches. Makes all the difference. Added more rocks to the stove as well. Store my fire wood under the benches. No problems at all for a good löyle. No ventilation problems.

Was in a sauna in an onsen here in Japan yesterday as well. Looked around, and saw plastic materials everywhere. Even the ceiling was made out of some questionable material. Got out right away.

My SISU barrel sauna works just fine. I can get that thing heated way over 200 degrees and its steams up perfectly with the Huum drop heater. It could also be your heater not getting hot enough. Im dripping sweat in a few minutes especially when I get it steamed up.

You don't need an active ventilation if you have a wood burning stove.

That’s true. Most kit saunas for sale here are electric however
