nice to finally see a video on this exclusive. This is my very favorite neck knife. I have both blade finishes, and I dyed the scales on the black washed blade one, and it looks amazing. These things are hidden gems and one of the best values on the market imo. To me its essentially a perfect knife.

Fair enough! It really is a great choice for an EDC fixed blade

I have the regular minimal cleaver and love it, just a nifty little edc that really does it all with ease, and the ergonomics are super comfy for whittling 🙂 I am gonna have to get a fancy one now 😁

The Crkt S.P.E.C is one of my favorite edc knives ever, it's the same blade profile but with a different scales and a little more length

I'd have to disagree about the D2. I'm not a knife guy or collector of any sort, but I am a mountain and climbing guide and used this as my go to neck knife for about a month in the field where it quickly became a rusty mess. Hiking 8+ hours a day for weeks on end with salty sweat rolling down into the sheath ruined it. I had my older "cheap" version for over a year without issue and though I would upgrade to this improved one. Again I'm not a collector, I just use the thing, and wrongly assumed the D2 would be better. I guess it might be in edge retention, but that's never been an issue and corrosion resistance is far more important to me.

CRKT really needs to put out different steel options and scale options sort of like benchmade does with their custom builder. Imagine being able to pick from about 4 steels, 5 or 6 different handel colour or materials, and also blade finish. Figure the price range would be from $50-$125 think that would be a huge hit for CRKT. PS. I need this version before it disappears
@MattRoseKnives2 жыл бұрын
That would be dope!

Well Alan folts ( the designer of this knife) sells customs in 154cm steel. They are really hard to come by but they are out there.

Whats your opinion on the 8cr material? I find it holds an edge much better while still being stainless.

Love my minimalist but hate the Steel! Gets dull when you just look at it! I would like a custom Alan Folts minimalist. Did you check the customs out? Have a look, Great color's and everything
@MattRoseKnives2 жыл бұрын
Haha totally get that. I'll have to check the customs out. Grab you one of the D2 versions, steel will last much longer!

I have this one and honestly I don’t think the D2 performs very differently than the 5CR15MoV, I don’t know why, maybe their heat treatment is on the softer side, who knows. I still like it and carry it, the black tactical version I have carried since 2014 and it’s a great working knife, sure it gets dull after a few minutes use, oh well it’s easy to sharpen, I strop it on my homemade pocket strop I carry and it’s back to work.

10/10 Grip/ergonomics are divine (unless you have large hands or fat fingers.) Was well worth 25 bucks. Doesn’t print at all when worn under your shirt. Great for general edc utility and can be drawn, deployed quickly if you ever find yourself in a fight or flight situation where flight isn’t an option. Hopefully simply drawing it will do trick to pacify a situation, only ever once was forced to do so and this lil guy was there for me. If it wasn’t so dam easy to carry I might have chosen to not have it on me 24/7 that 1 instance.

I bought the CRKT S.P.E.W. , and Minamalist "bowie"....I was surprised to discover they BOTH are made of such cheap steel...5CR15MOV....I assumed they were made of the typical CRKT steel which is 8CR 14 MOV.. This featured D2 is more appealing

I really dislike finger grooves and these are some of the worst in terms of creating hotspots when you're actually working with the knife. It's fine in a straight grip cutting tape or something, but when you start cutting things that torque the knife back the grooves become annoying. Definitely prefer the flytanium scales even though they're pretty huge.
@MattRoseKnives Жыл бұрын
That’s totally fair. Generally I don’t like grooves but on a blade like this they make sense
