I own a 2015 Yamaha V-Star 950. My prior bike was a 2011 V-Star 650 Custom. I put over 50,000 miles on the V-Star 650 in 5 seasons. The 950 is everything the 650 was but much more. I find the 950 extremely comfortable and very stable. It has plenty of power to carry my 5 foot six, 190 lbs frame across the county or across state lines. I get about 50 miles to a gallon of gas. I just love this bike. Thanks Sean. Hoping to make the ride from Buffalo, NY to your shop one of these days to meet you guys in person. Go Bills!

I have a 2010 vstar 950 tourer. I replaced the stock seat and passenger seat with the Mustang combo. A little pricey at $500 but well worth it. I also put a throttle control on it for under $200 (self installed), also well worth it for those long rides. Rode the Million Dollar Highway in Colorado a few years back. My bike performed as good as expected. I like the floor boards over pegs, put floor boards on for my passenger too. Haven't been riding much lately but hopefully I'll get back to Colorado this year. My buddy rode his Harley when we went and had to stop to buy ear plugs during our ride. I personally like a more quiet ride. Not trying to dog on Harley but the Japanese bikes are what I prefer...

Like owning a Harley that doesn't cost a thousand bucks every time it breaks down ! !
@muskokamike1273 жыл бұрын
I owned a harley for years and it never broke down. Well, one time I smoked the starter relay...but that was $30 to replace. People always love dumping on Harley's but have you seen what you have to go through to change the oil on a vstar 1100? talk about turning a $30 oil change into a $120 oil change. Not to mention having to check the valve clearances every time you service the bike. I'm not brand loyal, but people dumping on Harley's has become trendy like dumping on Nickelback..... In my small town a guy used to make snide comments about my harley all the time. He used to ride an old goldwing and would show up at the cruise night events with his 10 year old son. I finally had enough of the comments and pulled him aside one day and said "listen bud, enough of the snide comments. If you don't stop, I'd hate for your son to see me kick your ass all over this parking lot" "aww come on I'm just joking around..." yeah, the first 10 times maybe, just stop..... He stopped.

The bike seems little harder to turn in this situation because if its size too ?

I have a 2010 950 tour, the floor boards do scrape the ground. Have scrape through 3 sets already. I do have 57,000 miles on my bike. The bike turns super easy and very tightly. If you are looking for a simple bike that will last and easy to ride this is it!!! The scraping will scare you at first but after a few times you get use to it. I do it on purpose especially if I have my mag strips on ( they create a lot of bright white sparks, especially fun at night). Hope this helps you buddy. Take care.

I have been riding for, going on three years now, I am sick of the little 2004 Honda rebel 250. I made a mistake, it is too small. I am looking for a Yamaha V star 950 in the neighborhood of $4,000 to get used to a big motorcycle before going on to something newer. I have practiced slow riding constantly from the beginning to be ready for a big bike. I watch your videos and trust what you have to say. The problem I have with you is the same as the others. First of all I would like to see more of you riding from a second person's point of view to see what the bike really looks like. Secondly, I am a 5'3" tall man, so finding a motorcycle to fit me is hard and I would love to see a person of my stature on some of your bikes, I am sure there are thousands with the same complaint as I have; you could potentially gain a plethora of subscribers.

You did the correct thing starting on a small bike. The video shows what the bike is like from the riders point of view. It is a little vain to worry about what it looks like to everyone else.

hey sean or shawn,.. hey i am planning to buy one for 2k same year,.. is this fuel injected and also should i get it is it worth it,..let me know thanks bro...

I'll answer for you. It is a fuel injected, air/oil cooled 959 engine. Definitely worth it at that price (mileage depending). I have a 2014 V Star 950 and really like it. It's my first cruiser style bike and have had zero issues other that batteries coming out of winter storage.

what is your opinion on this exact bike but 2015 with 74,000 miles. I would be getting it from a dealership, so its been checked and tested. Can these bikes last a while?

I'm a dirt bike rider and I totally agree I'd rather have pegs on my vstar 950 touring but i made it a bobber

They should add small wheel under floor boards that won't scrape the bottom. Wheels easily replaced. I added front mini floor boards for more foot support by KURAKYN. Work pretty good.

I shift by the sound usually; when the gear winds out. I've been driving CDL trucks...for years; I always go by sound and feel. I have too; otherwise...I'm trusting the tech that CAN fail. Maybe it's just me; but it works...for me AND the vehicles/bikes.

How is this compared to the Suzuki vl800/c50?

I own a 2009 950 vstar. Pretty good bike. I have had no issues with it as far as breakdowns. My only complaint is that top speed is only 100 mph. other than that, I like it. I put a windscreen on it. I can remove it when I want to, I put a mustang explorer seat, Rush exhaust,saddlebags and an upgraded horn. Very inexpensive bike compared to Harleys of ta similar style.

Dude- I love your guy’s videos. I’m a pastor from Chicago, ive had three bikes and looking to get back into it. (VTX 1300c, fz6, 1100 custom). Love the words of wisdom. So good. Great review. I’m 6’1” pushing 290lbs. My 1100 custom did ok without the 6th gear. Took it to sturgis. Will the 950 be ok? Little hesitant (I started with a 1300 and find myself going the ring direction with power). Thanks guys!
@justinleneave36515 жыл бұрын
Nah. I personally wouldn't get the 950. The bike alone is over 600 lbs. 50 hp and ft lb will feel pretty sluggish. V star 1300 would be more suitable.
