Finally a creative distortion that doesn't give you hearing damage from switching between algorithms. Also it wouldn't surprise me if it performed some sort of smoothing to their waveshapes which is very appreciated, I want to be able to go crazy on knobs without breaking the sound and getting fatigue/potential ear damage

I'm bombarded with rift as well... And I think it's really a struggle not to buy it... But on the other hand... It's a struggle to buy it as well since I have so much distortion plugins already, from NI ones, Trash, Ohmicide,Driveshaper, Saturn, Meldas... I think at this point... It's more psychological push to buy it then a necessity.

@@nightpassmusic Not, really... 2 years after this post, my daily distortion toolbox is mostly unchanged... Newfangled Saturate being ocassionally used since it's cpu heavy and sometimes Guitar rigs pedals, also very ocassional use.

For anyone watching this now, it's worth knowing that Rift does now have multiband processing built in!

The multiband processing is useless though because only one band can be distortion and the other two are feedback and filter. It's the worst implementation of multiband processing I've ever seen.

You've been able to do that with Venn Audio's V-Clip, which they released in 2019. Actually, even before that, the Fruity Waveshaper has allowed you to do custom waveshaping to the top and bottom polarities independently.

I've used ohmicide for years, I also know how to split frequencies of a signal and apply different fx to each splitted band. But I'm still intrigued with this plug in as well.

here's a tip: i restrict myself from using effects plugins until i am working on something and im like... "damnit, i just need that sound! oh shit! which plugin did i use that does that sound? oh shit RIFT is the only one that does that..." then id consider it. hahha
