I'm no camera Snob. I just got my SL3 and love the 4K at 24fps...and because of the new Digic 8 processor I get nearly twice the battery life than the SL2. SL3 has Clean HDMI Output too. I Got my SL3 last week with the 18-55 kit lens for $499.00 on Ebay..Oh yeah, I almost forgot the SL3 auto focus eye detection Feature. I'm good with the SL3 !

@@TravisMCP M50 does the Entry level Canon camera better. If you have any input or answer, why would anyone choose this over the M50 besides battery life? The point of these cameras are to be for the traveler or beginner; the beginner aspect is exactly the same, but the traveler aspect is done better on the M50.

When recording video, the SL3/250D shows sound (INFO option during recording). Outside of recording, it also shows the histogram, during video recording there is no histogram. The previous SL2/200D does not show sound when recording. Only when setting in MENU. I have both SL2 and SL3.

This does have a few more video features then the sl2 but if you need that 24fps in 1080p then yeah you’ll need to look elsewhere.

I am not a film maker so I don't need 24 fps...and I don't use flash...and Mirrorless camera look like a point and shoot camera...but maybe a firmware update could bring back 24 fps in the future, who knows?? I thought of getting the M50 but the battery man, I hate how fast it can run out of juice and it's designed like a point and shoot camera and for the lenses we'll have to buy an external mount...what?? Instead I would buy a new lens and just insert it in the SL3....I love the Canon SL3

Great video once again. I agree, I would opt for the M50 or better yet, something in a full frame. I started with the t5i and sold it to get a t6i for the better sensor (24.2Mp) and better auto focus but was still very disappointed with the indoor image quality. My Lumix G7 has way better image quality in doors. I still love Canon camera and have several lenses for them so eventually I want to move to a better camera than the t6i, I just don't think the SL3 is the one. Sorry for the long post and keep up the awesome video content.

i just bought one and couldnt open the RAW files then noticed they are CR3 files. i have purchased versions of CS6 and lightroom and there are no updates available so the only solution was to get the cloud or send the camera back. the SL2 shoots CR2 files and has the same sensor but the SL3 does 4K video. i really dont do 4K video anyway so i think i will order a SL2 for a backup and just call it a day.

I'm thinking Canon didn't include 24p because you can't set the shutter at 180 degree angle anyway so they did 25p and you have 1/50 shutter so it's actually pretty perfect. Even though... I have a sony a7III and use that mostly.

I just bought it 12 days. back plus accessories ( telephoto lens ext. mic. tripod ) I am just non pro hobby user and keep it in auto so far great used it for wildlife photography it is adequite with Sigma 150 - 600 mm lens I am in the game

Coming from an SL2 user, I do find the removal of 24 an odd decision from Canon. 24, 30, and 60 offers a wide range in which to experiment and be creative with. Download the cinelike profile and the SL2 becomes a pretty good setup for the price. I'm assuming the 4k capabilities of the SL3 might make up for it? Either way, looking forward to your full review. I do find the SL3 interesting. Cheers!

I love my Sl2. Its upgrade is only really 4k and eye detection. No 1080 at 24? Thats all i shoot in except for slow mo. When i upgrade it'll be an 80d or similar. I attach my cellphone, using canon connect ,to view audio levels on my Sl2.

No duel pixel AF in 4K but I believe it does in 1080P and for photo's

If you don't mind the m50 small grip and Short battery life get that. That's the only reasons I got the sl3 over the m50. The m50 10 frames per sec over the 5 of the sl3 was tempting.

Quick question for you... I want to use the Canon SL3 for live streaming and web conferences. Legato says their cam link products are not compatible with the SL3 because the SL3 does not have an unlimited run-time due to this it will turn itself off to save power after a certain time of inactivity. Can you tell me what hook-up device you use to connect the SL3 to computer to facilitate live streaming?

If you like the lenses then yes. But those big l lenses kind of take away one of the major benefits of the m50, it’s small size.

personally i would rather the SL3 over the M50 as its heavily rumored online the M mount is going to be dropped, i got an SL2 at the start of the year and love it, everyone always asks what im shooting on (people only do that if the quality is good) so the sl3 having 4K *has* to be better, if you dont need 4K get the SL2 as its cheaper EDIT: someone will probably figure out how to jimmy eye detect AF onto the SL2 as they are almost identical (apart from processor mainly)

Godox TTL flashes and remotes work since they rolled out a firmware for compatibility a couple of weeks ago. I am sure other makers like Yongnuo will follow suit.

I bought the first generation SL1. Its a decent DSLR camera. I got tired carrying those large body Canon and Nikon dslr cameras. That's reason I bought a smaller body dslr. I just bought the Canon M100 last week. Getting ready for our church summer camp. I love my new toy. It takes great photos, WIFI , Bluetooth, NFC. Not 4K video though which is ok for me. 1080p works just fine. I haven't experimented depth of field yet or other features. So far, I love it.

you can't go wrong with the a6400 but there's a huge price difference an m50 or SL3 vlogging setup cost less than 1000$ with a ultra wide angle lens , microphone , tripod etc... with the A6400, you're looking at minimum 1750$ just for the camera and the lens (10-18 F4) but hey you get what you pay for, the A6400 setup is way better.

@@Rc2Go its more cinematic and overall better image quality because each frame has more information. Example: Sony can do 4K 24p @ 100mbit or 4K 30p @ 100mbit, at 24p each frame is 4.2mbit and at 30p its 3.3mbit, so technically 24p has about 25% more information per frame, so overall it should have better color, dynamic range, less moire etc

Very cool to hear the eye detect AF has promise! When you had the lens off to show the mirror, I had flash backs of dust on the mirror, the lens above the mirror and also inside the the chamber where the eyepiece is. 😮It was a 10ish year old pawn shop Pentax. We won't discuss the 6mp sensor that would not come clean 🤣 While I know this camera can meet the needs of people that buy it, Canon continues to make odd choices on included features.

Another camera that Canon crippled. There's a reason why their sales are down 20%. They need to reduce the lineup of cameras being produced and have their cameras all be more well rounded. Their lineup should be T7i, M50, 5d Mk IV, EOS R, and 1DX Mk II.

Uk Prime day deal £469, reduced from £605. I have been doing a lot of review watching recently and though not in any current prime day offers the the Panasonic G7 is £498, the Canon M50 is £589, and the Panasonic G80 is £679. Until your review I nearly went for this SL3 as it’s the cheapest, but, at least one person is listening to you, I decided the cheapest is not the best value. Currently focusing in on the G7 over both the M50 and G80, hope I am right. I am not a serious vlogger or KZbin creator, but do enjoy videoing activities and have recently got into trying to make up my own personal videos for family and friends using LumaFusion.

Aaarrggghhh, just watched your later video where you show the sound monitoring on the flip screen, and someone else’s comparison of SL3 to M50. I am now placing more emphasis on the eye focus for my use, which popped both the Canons back to the top of my list, with the SL3 just edging it. Talk about confusing, and throw into the features pros and con’s variables choices the buy now on Prime day offers or wait until Black Friday when the next big discounts are due choices and it’s pressure. Further to all the rest we are probably going to have to face a further drop in the value of the £, which makes savings now better value than likely on Black Friday.
