Thanks for this! I was always concerned about opening up the metal firing box, but this video is a nice guide for that. Slamfire should have never been in a "competitive" blaster like this in the first place so I'm looking forward to fixing mine.

Huh, this never came up in testing. My unit with the metal kit hasn't failed so far with the slamfire thing. I'll bring this up with XYL and see about getting a fix

Did you swap for the other o-rings included with the blaster?

I've taken the thing apart and tried variations of it about a dozen times and still had issues. The original bolt doesn't have any issues with the slam fire, but the air seal is just so bad that I couldn't use it. The only thing that 100% solved the problem was removing the slam fire lever. I used it last Friday during our weekly 90 min event and didn't have a single issue.

Yeah, put two of this upgrade kit in two different Unicorns and had the issue to some degree in both, although one had a perfect seal, the other was just a bit leaky

Hmm. Haven't had this issue myself, but good to see what to do if it occurs. I absolutely love this blaster. It feels like the guts of it are in a totally different league from anything else.

For sure. I'm still happy with it. I love the entire blaster still, but it was super puzzling for the first couple weeks trying to figure out why it kept malfunctioning. Kudos to Chance for sleuthing this out and finding the root of the problem. Also, great work on the charity live stream! Really amazing thing the community did!

Hey Aldos, Doc here. Just found your channel and have been watching a few vids. Up here in the Great White North (Toronto, Canada) We are in to our winter, indoor games. Hard 130 fps cap. Got a Unicorn in the summer and I gotta say, my favourite CQB blaster of all time. I run this with an Outlaw and my indoor TKO as well as a modded, single shot Sledgefire. Hoping I can make it down with the EhTeam some time next year to play in your arena. Hopefully get Colin and Buff to come as well. That should be a lot of fun. That's awesome! Glad to hear you're close. The arena is a really unique experience and we'd love to have you. The eh-team comes out every so often. Get in contact with Blu and I bet y'all could coordinate a road trip. Our old fps cap was 130. I'm happy we increased it. It definitely has helped to transform the gameplay in a positive way. I miss having the seagull, but I really do love this unicorn. The stock spring would make it a perfect fit in a 130cap event.

Do you have a good air seal on yours currently? I was shocked at how bad mine was. Yeah, I've basically never found myself using slam fire. Someone in stream mentioned it only a few weeks ago and it was the first time I had heard that the unicorn even had it! I never consider it. Appreciate you!

@@Aldoss The air seal on mine is a bit meh, but I'm gonna be playing with changing o-rings to see if I can improve it. Currently just waiting on parts to get to me.

Thanks for more valid info on why not to buy the all metal internals. My sons Unicorn on a bigshock spring and the stock barrel hits 130fps. My unicorn hits 230fps on the stock internals but with a tuned barrel length and a 18kg Kronos spring. Glad I didnt waste coin on it.

This happened to me as well. Tight tolerances that didn't transfer over. Easy fix!

Seems you could also simply grind portions of the slam fire lever off (front, and a bit of the rear where the spring mounts) leaving only part in place to maintain the correct spacing for the trigger to actuate the sear. Or, better yet mill a new trigger with the correct profile for a non-slam fire equipped Unicorn. I've got an idea now, lol!

So, it actually needs MORE connection. The fix Chance did was apply some thick gorilla tape to it which helped the lever get pushed forward more by the ram. Welding a little dot onto the lever would work because it would additive, rather than subtractive.

@@Aldoss Got it, your 1/4" piece of rubber is thicker than the metal of the slam fire piece. So, my second thought of a new trigger entirely would be the better route. Going to do that myself when I tear my Unicorn down for a new barrel and PT.

Mine had the opposite problem: when I primed my unicorn, it would fire itself when the priming mech slammed forward. My fix was a rubber doorstop stuck to the front orange plastic to move the priming mech back into the sweet spot ever so slightly.

How necessary is the trigger lock? Can it be left out?

Hi Aldoss, have you had issues with the top rail coming loose because the plastic piece that it is attached to stripped? If so have you found a fix for this?

The top rail is actually really secure on mine. The screw ports were cut too small and I had to dig into it to get the screws to catch. Hasn't budged since.

I’m interested in why mine want fire and the spring keeps collapsing and getting caught stuck so when I take it apart it pops out and slams against my hand really sucks compared to my worker seagull which is an absolute angel 😇

Do you think I’d be able to use the metal upgrade kit with the 1.8 spring without having any significant fps drops?

I'm not sure why you'd expect fps to drop. The seal on my blaster was vastly improved by installing the metal kit and that boosted fps quite a bit without any other mods.

I don't, unfortunately. I know that other parkour gyms do nerf stuff, but I think we're the only one that has this thriving adult community. If there's one near you, I'd reach out and ask. You can show them my channel if you want. We're one of the longest running parkour gyms in the states. I'd be happy to talk to the owners and explain to them how we operate this so that more nerfers can have venues like ours.
