This is definitely one of those obligatory "this channel is underrated" posts but you displayed this to me in a way I found fun, entertaining and informative all at the same time. I just got into flashlights and I didn't realize there was so much science involved with something I thought was simple. Ill have to check out your other videos, you seem like a person that really does their research when it comes to hobbies.

It's like your at the end of the Road when looking to purchase your first flashlight 😂 Been 3 days im going down that rabbithole and that vidéo finally convinced me to not choose displacement (higher output) as a replacement for color accuracy. 😅 Btw flashlights people are crazy in internet it's not a urban legend 😂 Thanks sir.

We are absolutely nuts. I also like that you said "first flashlight." There is a good chance you'll get the bug and end up with way more flashlights than any one human needs. hahaha

@@Brokagainracing noway I'm becoming one of you 👀 I ordered (and just received) a Wurkkos FC13s (5000-5300k), I switch it on just one seconde by mistake dear god it's charging RN as we speak, but the colors, just had a glimpse of what high CRI mean 🤯 . (for 35€) Take care ✌️ Btw : i have a LEP light on the way normally but it's different it's not really a flashlight you know and it's for my personal ahem photography stuff i do in the streets occasionnaly in Paris, France 👀 See totally in control here !! ;)

@@IllinoisDailyCarry @IllinoisDailyCarry I lied a bit i started with one of theses Ultrafire flashlights on aliexpress around 2007-08, 12$ the flashlight, the 18650 i think I paid was 1.50$, still not dead and still running it from time to time 👀. 15 years later, in 2021 bought a Wuben C3 (great flashlight theses redditors are just crazy... Telling you'). I just compared the three so at 20y interval time wise .. Dear god thses turbo modes who last like 3s are crazy... Also a bit scary in their own ways except the wuben C3 (who has it's flaws spot wise) Idk man i just like lighting (you know how they call Paris, bet you're an history buff under that irony in that video 😎✌️- no irony you seems smart and nice ! Again thanks for the video) To be serious, they're just tools, come to Europe if you're stuck in the US (I have an American online gf near IL, living in Chicago, I know it can feel a bit depressing staying too long in the same place, escape like the Light you are, ;) Btw : might return the Wurkkos, despite the lock mode (4 hard press), it's becoming so hot so fast, bit scared something might happend one day im drinking too much wine or swigging a baguette too hard 🥖 Joking, I will be back surely.

I only buy 4000K up to 5000K these days for something that doesn't require range and too much duration. The yellow light is much more comfortable to the eyes and make colours pop beautifully.

Couldn't agree more. I think my pineapple mini is my current favorite color temp output.

I'll always go high CRI.. if it's not an option, then I probably don't care about the light. The main reason being that I work as a glassblower and prefer to work in darker conditions, easier to read heat temps that way.. but sometimes I do need to throw a bunch of light onto a piece and having a flashlight handy is easier than reaching for a switch somewhere. There are also times where I'll work sales at local galleries and having a handy little high cri light ready to highlight colors and features has definitely gotten me sales that I otherwise wouldn't have. I generally prefer 4- maybe 5.5kk and try to get at least 90+ CRI... My best is kind of a freak. Its an older eagtac d25c ti with a neutral xpl-hi.. however, the tint and CRI are fantastic! Probably around 5500k and at least high 80s for CRI.. ibe bought a couple other lights with that led after my first experience with it, but all of the others have looked like garbage in comparison. My next best are nichia/sst20 4k, 90&95 claimed CRI respectfully. The sst20 is in a lumintop fw3.. I originally bought it with the neutral xpl-hi but it was my worst experience with this led yet! So I swapped them out for the sst20, wanted to try em after seeing the claimed 95+ CRI. Major improvement! However sometimes the LEDs in this class will have a hint of green at lower outputs and I do notice it beside my unicorn eagtac. Otherwise, I think they look great. The nichia are in a couple of Prometheus betas.. these serve as my backup lights. I'll probably try the 6k sst20 next.. maybe in an fwaa. I'd love a nice, clean white that represents color well, although I do enjoy the warmer, cozier feeling tints from my 4k lights..

Warm and cozy is a big factor to why I like the 4### kelvin lights as well. I like the light that the pineapple mini puts out though it is not the most light but it is pretty light.
@jseden2 жыл бұрын
@@IllinoisDailyCarry that's how I fell about my betas.. I've got a nickel version and a ti. The ti one has a nicer beam but the nickel is maybe one point higher on the cri scale. Regardless, aside from the actual quality of the light they produce (which is lost on most, lol), it's not particularly impressive output wise. Regardless, it still outputs enough, or even more than enough for me in my normal, non-work related use. I probably use the 15lm mode the most, with the high and moonlight being tied for second.

@@jseden i have a eagtac d25c as well. Its been one of favorite flashlight. I dont like the emmiter even though its a neutral white. So i swap the emmiter to Nichia 219B R9080 D220 L2 SW45K led and now its perfect!!
@jseden2 жыл бұрын
@@danialdedi my eagtac is just kind of a freak. I've bought others with the "same" led and none of them have been anywhere near as good. This one d25 just kind of puts everything else to shame, including a newer d25c (d3c), even lights that I love when using them on their own. Idk what it is.. it just has a super clean neutral white, ever so slightly hinting to warm and renders color just about as well as anything I put it up against. I call it my unicorn lol. I wish I knew more about the emitter than just "xpl-hi neutral" I'd get it in every light I buy if I could! I've yet to try a 219b, but I plan on ordering a ticu fwaa with them at SW45k when jlhawaii has them in again. My current carries are fw3 with sst20 4k (kinda green At lower levels) and the beta with a 219a. It's definitely better than the sst20s but still looks green beside the eagtac. I have a dgq tiny4 with neutral XML2 or xpl2.. just don't remember which is pretty good, but it also tends toward green and the cri is notably lower than any of my high cri lights. But still totally acceptable when used on its own.

Excellent video. I am a big Olight fan myself and it would be neat to do more comparisons like this to encourage Olight to produce more lights in their lineup with the higher CRI. Thank again! 👍😇👍

I have the Lumintop Tool AA Nichia warm white version. Plants, trees and grass look much more natural than a 6500K flashlight. It's not 100% accurate of course, but closer. Plus warm light is more pleasing to the eyes (hence the reading modes and blue light filters in our phones and tablets). It's such an enjoyable light. I can't tell though if it's 4000K or 4500K because I don't have a way to measure it. Must be somewhere in between, based on observation.

Do you have a camera where you can control the white balance settings?

@@IllinoisDailyCarry no unfortunately. I presume that would have helped me determine the actual color temp? The emitter is also the 219C, same as yours in the video.

So youre saying that its a good thing that the ebay seller sold me the acebeam w30 cri>90 version although she led me to believe i was buying the 6500k version. I was so upset today when i first opened it and realized i was misled, but then thought i would get online to search out if infact it was a good thing or bad thing??

CRI is the measurement of how accurate/close to 6500K that light is.

I can deal with the difference in color of light. As long as the performance is still the same. I dont know that much yet on the true differences between different color models etc. i just always went for 6500k in all my lights if the option was given when purchasing a flashlight.

I have flashlights with high cri from samsung, luminous and nichia, nichias 219c and 219b are definitely my favorite emitters colorwise, although not as bright but definitely nicer colors. And Lumintop AA tool 2.0 is definitely a good choice for the price and comes with diffuser and magnetic tail switch etc. Convoy also makes a few flashlight with different nichia emitters for about same price but less accessories in the package but better build quality.

I've never liked yellow based flashlight beams. They always make everything seem off. Thats why I make it a point to stick with led lights with either a natural ,5000k plus, to a more cold blue based 7500k max. That usually keeps me well outside the yellow light spectrum. And sometimes slightly cooler tones can still work without throwing the colors and look of things so far off. Cree leds are usually what I aim for, as their light output seems to really hold their own, when paired with the right reflectors.
@IllinoisDailyCarry2 жыл бұрын
100% Agree I was let down when one of my favorite lights (physical design) had a horrible yellow tint to the output.
