This is gold. Moved to SketchUp from Live Home 3D a few months ago and love it. I now want to make use of my PS compositing skills for rendering. My fav trick was the fog to DOP - just genius!

My conclusions - One of the best orator , clean description. I missing however more then quick tips. It would be perfect to see some more detailed description of some V-ray or Sketchup showing on example. Like, explaining all features of lights in v-ray. Besides of that perfect:)

Thank you for the kind words! We do have more detailed examples covering all of the features in our V-Ray for SketchUp course (which is a part of our Video Course Library). You can learn more about our Video Course Library and sign-up for it here: www.sketchupschool.com/video-course-library

Really helpful. I have never used Photoshop but you inspired me to work on it. DOF topic love the most. There is question.... Can you draw a quadrilateral shape with diagonals. Yesterday I measured a site with outer sides and diagonals. So how to draw it. As in Sketchup arc has segments. I think there is inaccuracy in Sketchup. Generally I draw it in AutoCAD then import into Sketchup. It is possible in Sketchup? This is the only thing remained for me to get rid of AutoCAD I guess. I just wanted to depend only on Sketchup.
@SketchUpSchool4 жыл бұрын
Yes, you just use the Line tool in SketchUp to draw a quadrilateral shape with diagonals. And the Arc's segments are just due to the fact that SketchUp is a polygon modeler, which just means that all edges (even curved ones) are made up of straight edges (several together for a curve). The good news is that the arc will render looking like a smooth curve when it comes time to produce a 2D vector drawing, and it is as accurate as any other polygon modeler. The only time you have to worry about the accuracy of a curve with a polygon modeler (like SketchUp) is when you need to have absolute perfect precision as you would need in certain types of industrial design or engineering - in those cases you would use a NURBs software to get truly perfect curves.

Hi Oliver, very useful tutorial, I'm already a big fan! Just to know, all the parameters and settings you have mentioned are available in the free SKP version or only for the professional? thanks
@SketchUpSchool4 жыл бұрын
This video assumes that you are using SketchUp Pro (not the free, web-based version). That being said, you can get some types of exports from the free web-based SketchUp that you can then enhance in Photoshop. But you don't have all the same options.

Do sketchup can do MEP things like what autocad or revit do? And is there a BIM too in sketchup?
@SketchUpSchool4 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can use SketchUp for MEP design. You can model things from scratch in SketchUp, or you can use Extensions that were made specifically for MEP related tasks, such as 3Skeng: www.3skeng.com/en/index.htm As for BIM, SketchUp itself is not a complete BIM tool (like Revit or ArchiCAD). However it can be (and is) used as a part of a BIM workflow (usually in the earlier conceptual phases of design -OR- for smaller projects, it can be used as a "BIM-lite" solution where you can have some parametric-like features plus reporting done all within SketchUp. How SketchUp fits into a BIM workflow all depends on what specific sort of work you need to do.

Hello i just wanted to ask which is faster vray next or corona render latest version
@SketchUpSchool4 жыл бұрын
We answered this comment in another video, but here's the answer we posted: There isn't a Corona extension for SketchUp, only a V-Ray for SketchUp extension. So if you're looking to use SketchUp, you're best to go with V-Ray for SketchUp.
