Just found your channel kit. Outstanding content with emphasis on practical application for beginners and experts. I only SW fish for 3 months in winter vacationing in FL Tampa Bay area. I am land based mainly piers and beach. I want to purchase one of the two rods discussed in your presentation with import via Japan. I DO WADE into the surf to access the fishable structure often and get the reel plashed/dunked. With that in mind I prefer a totally sealed reel. Unfortunately, they are heavy - Tsunami SaltX II 3000 with 11.8 OZ is my choice. Most likely a balancing issue. I would appreciate your Input please. Bait size is between 2 and 5 inches. Target species snappers. Spanish Macharel etc. Occasionally larger Pelagic Species.
@TheFishingKit3 ай бұрын
Hi Hubert, the wade fishing there is very different - however, check out the Twin Power XD, as far as sealing goes, this was made for a bit of wading, however, I can not guarantee that it would be like a van staal.
@hubertstoffel18203 ай бұрын
@@TheFishingKit Thanks for your quick reply and input. The Tsunami SALT X Gen II is the hottest surf fishing reel on the market here and on par with the Van Staal VS50 for 1/2 the price: $ 400 vs $ 800. Getting back to my question: Is an 11.8 OZ reel SUITABLE for the Crosride 5G rods discussed in this video,.especially the 9'4" rod?

Hey mate, I am thinking of getting a major craft solpara LSJ rod and a Shimano Sedona FJ. Do you think this will be a decent combo? Thanks, Rob.
@TheFishingKit10 күн бұрын
Rob, save your money and get a better combo, for reels, I always recommend nothing lower than a stradic. for Majorcraft rods, go up at least two tier levels to get decent ones. almost all rods in Solpara is something you will outgrow really fast.

Hi I’m new to light shore jigging. I happen to have a Shimano Spheros 3000xg that I use for squid and planning to use it for LSG. Do you think that the Shimano Moon Shot rod s96m is good combination with named reel for this tipe of fishing? If not what rod do you suggest with the 3000 reel? Planning to use Pe 1.2 line Thanks
@TheFishingKitАй бұрын
the moonshot can be used for light shore jigging. with your reel, it should be decent. But I think you should stick to PE 1 instead of PE 1.2...just a suggestion.

Hi there! How strong or resistant do you find the crossride ml (since the blank doesn't have a varnish coat)? Im considering to get one but Im a little bit affraid of going to the rocks with it. Thanks in advance!
@TheFishingKit2 ай бұрын
I don't know what you are afraid of or talking about...the strongest state of any rod blank is when it is unsanded and unvarnished. When it is sanded down and varnished, it means the blank has been thinned out. It will look aesthetically pleasing, but has already been weakened.
@ivanbilbao12542 ай бұрын
Oh, I didn't know or thought about the sanding part of the process. I just thought that an unvarnished rod was purely a weight thing ( in order to make the rod lighter) but this left the rod more unprotected . Many thanks for the info!

Hi kit, what about using shorter leader like 4-6 ft combine with low visibility braid color? I think it needs to be considered. So it might be possible to reduce the impact of the ring guide with the braid+leader knot. Apart from that, we also use a fishing rod that is long enough to allow that to be done
@TheFishingKit7 ай бұрын
Or just learn how to tie knots that go thru the guides easier?

How much line would you recommend is needed for this type of setup? I live in North America and the reel selection is very different compared to JDM models. We have a lot of deep spool spinning reels that have additional capacity. Wonder if a 2500D (300m capacity at PE #1) would be suitable even though you mentioned 4000-5000 reels. I currently have a Daiwa Over There 103M (Length: 3.12m, Lure: 10-50g) on the way.
@TheFishingKit4 ай бұрын
2500 can work, but since the spool is smaller, your casts will be a lot closer, so you cover less ground. You can use a 4000, but that also means you need to use heavier jigs and your rods would also sling heavier jigs...so 10g would be off the menu, which is basically the killer for shore jigging.

Hi Kit. How many grams do you cast safely with 0.6 PE and 0.8 PE? is there a practical formula that you use? and of course the leaders, for 10 lb what should be the max weight to cast without snapping?
@TheFishingKit6 ай бұрын
Not really a formula per se....the Reel's job is to hold line, take back line and to give the line resistance when pulled. The Line's job is to be a carrier for all this - the diameter helps it cut through air resistance and water resistance and brings the lure or bait to the fish and is a medium to be wind the fish in. The diameter (0.6, 0.8) dictates how much line can be wound on the spool of your reel....now...what's the missing part of this equation? that's your answer...literally lists it there.
@roland_des85276 ай бұрын
@@TheFishingKit Sorry, my fault. i meant e.g. 10 lb for 0.6 PE diameter or 12 lb for 0.8 PE diameter. Do you cast 15 gr. jigpara with 10 lb line and leader? i am asking for snapping factor and line wear out.
@TheFishingKit6 ай бұрын
@@roland_des8527 I have yet to have the line snap on me when I cast. Wear factor of the braid on casting isn't a problem as I have leaders long enough to wrap at least twice on the reel. On my LSJ I cast up to 30g on my combo with the lightest at 7g.

@TheFishingKit7 ай бұрын
The top end of Majorcraft is Mid tier at best. Top end rods would be the likes of Yamaga, Ripplefisher etc. Even the "cheap" rods of Yamaga would be better than the best majorcrafts. Europe is late when it comes to rods compared to what we have here in the UAE because unlike Europe, we deal with the companies straight so we get things faster.
