Watch this before you watch another mixing tutorial or music production tutorial. The importance of understanding systems that work, vs. blindly following "rules". In this video, I share a personal story of my first time mixing drums (a very, very long time ago) while blindly copying the settings of an SSL Channel EQ I saw in a Recording Revolution video. I completely misunderstood the lesson (my own fault - much love to our friend Graham!) and learned that the only way to get better at mixing music is to understand HOW to do something. You can't get the same results copying another engineer's settings, because each recording is different and needs a different approach. Rules don't work, but SYSTEMS do! 😊💪
