@@albertomadrid940 if you have the tools and the ability to record yourself disassembling then it’s not hard at all. I had another form of transportation so I took my time when I did mine. I have a similar looking civic like the intro lmao and so far from owning a 7th gen for 2 years with high mileage I had to only replace the hood release latch with the entire wire and it was fairly easy and only 1 window doesn’t roll down. I haven’t experienced the other problems you mentioned yet but great video explaining each problem 👍

I recently bought one as a daily driver and so far the only problem I’ve run into is the gas/trunk lever. I intentionally broke the plunger in the gas door so now i just open it up with my finger. Thankfully the trunk can be opened with the key.

Yeah when I bought mine a week ago gasket was blown. Tried to start it up and it blew the radiator cap off because all the coolant pressure was flooded with cylinder pressure. It’s actually really easy to replace the head gasket on this car I did it in a day. Works like a charm now. Might as well do that camshaft seal while you’re in here too because they typically go bad.

For anyone facing the water blowing problem, it may not be the head gasket. On mine it was actually the egr/thermostat housing My 2004 es2 ex has 250k mountain miles on the original engine and automatic and gets flogged to 6k rpm daily on curvy roads. I did the head gasket after seeing forums all claiming it was the culprit for the water blowing out the overflow tank. Along the way I did some forensics and noticed the crush gasket on that side housing was breached from the exhaust side to the water jacket at a thin spot in the middle, letting exhaust pressure build up in the water system. I recommend replacing the gasket with a proper copper new crush gasket and torque the bolts evenly. Do not reuse the old one or even doing the whole HG job won't fix it(saw a "pro" make this mistake recently). If you do have to end up doing the hole thing, it's also a good time to replace the water pump and timing belt. I recommend using OEM parts only.

I bought one last month and within a week it was overheating at idle. It even spilled all the coolant out when I was parked on a downhill too. Turns out bad head gaskets are super common on this generation of civic, and nobody could find it until one mechanic did a leak down test
@AutoMotivate
@AutoMotivate 8 ай бұрын
Interesting, bad head gaskets are pretty easy to figure out. You could have popped the head gasket when it over heated. I’ll be sure to check the thermostat and water pump to make sure you won’t pop the new head gasket, if you are getting it replaced

I'm looking for a 7th gen to replace my 6th generation. There's nothing wrong with my 6th generation but it is impossible to accommodate WeatherTech floor mats and it's a lot more difficult to put in a two-din stereo system. The problem is I'm looking for a four-door without a sunroof that's a manual transmission, and not in terrible shape. That last part is really difficult.

well I have a 2001 Honda Civic LX 5-Speed and head gasket has never blown. I recommend supercoolant if you want to prevent it. i use Engine Ice Hi Performance Coolant and mine is goin on 180K miles soon. accessory wise hood latch pull broke off and true about the airbox that screw stripped I had to use a socket to remove for installation of a cold air intake back in 2020. That's like how they say the automatic transmissions were known to fail at around 50K miles i find it hard to believe as I think its all based on how its driven (do you dawg it, fast accelerate?) and if easy on it it'll last cause my uncle has an 02 with an automatic transmission and it's goin on 175K miles never had an issue with the tranny

I have a 2001 d17a2. I have been through all these situations and have ironed out all the kinks that have plagued this generation of civics. The biggest issue is head warp from a poor head gasket, but I found a solution, and so far after 50 thousand miles since I had it resurfaced. I would share my fixes as I have been the owner since I bought it in 2002, but I'm not because nobody likes this era and I can get the parts for dirt cheap. Just about every junkyard I go to there are at least half a dozen that I can grab off of. I also got it standard. So I don't have to worry about that pesky slush box problem that this generation has. So guys. Please leave me all the d17a2s go ahead and k swap so I can get all dim parts...

My 2002 civic needed another engine in 2015 due to overheating. I had a used engine installed. The hood release broke twice. The power window button needed to be replaced. Also, the car had the smell of gasoline. I had several emission parts replaced due to the check engine light coming on. Another issue was water leaking around the front window. Another source of water leak is if the hood release bushing is not properly installed. These are some the problems with the 2002 civic.
