I'll never understand why they're perfectly ok with an SMG killing you in less than half a second with hipfire but if a shotgun does the same thing somehow it's toxic and bad for the game. It’s COD man, the game has never had any balance or any real recoil. There’s always a meta and it’s always going to stomp anything else. Same thing with the Kar98k rework. If I shoot you in the head you should be dead, period. That goes for any sniper, especially the real snipers that are way slower. If I can scope in and shoot you once in the head before you can put any shots in me with an AR or SMG, I deserve a one shot kill. Outside of rebirth the thing is basically useless.

The VG combat shotgun with the first barrel for hip fire damage, hip fire attachments, vital, 12 gauge 5 round magazine, and hollow point rounds can one-shot at point blank range You need to hipfire though, the barrel attachment gives extra hipfire damage. It’s good on Rebirth/Fortunes Keep

My fav shotgun load-out is a Jak12 (forge tac marauder, torrent barrel, 32 round mags, 5mW, sleight of hand or disabling) it has some pretty good range and probably the best hip fire shotgun build I’ve ever used

Even better, run the 2nd longest barrel/the one that doesn't harm movement. With pump actions, movement and ADSing is key, so to have much faster mobility is a game changer.

@@stevierhodes8496 well it ultimately depends on your playstyle. I run it with that 18" barrel + choke for an 8m 2 shot range. With the longest barrel and suppressor it's like 11m. I value mobility over a 3 meter advantage.

Okay tim: the fastest killing shotgun is the origin 12 with slug rounds! Around 240 ms ttk with upper body shots. The difficulty is that the ADS radius is semi large so it can be difficult for accuracy but it melts when the bullets hit anything other than the legs!

People complain about shotguns by saying if they are good the game is campy but the thing is shotguns are almost never good. They are broken or ultra garbage. It’s to the point it feels sometimes like why is it even a weapon class in a lot of metas. The double barrels were fun as hell a few months ago, the einhorn was broken a while back. The thing is The smg players think shotguns take ZERO skill but I always like to look at them like “well I’m sacrificing some utility for something that’s only viable within a few meters, where a smg or ever a close range ar can still function at a longer range” I feel the same about the bayonets in warzone, they just in season 4 nerfed them way too hard. Sure they shouldn’t be one tapping, but they don’t have to be useless

If a weapon doesn't have viability in any situation it needs a buff. A shotgun should be winning point blank encounters because that's what it's for. Don't want to die to a shotgun? Don't rush into rooms being camped by one...it's called "having game sense and strategy".
