I am so glad I found you!! My name is Anne from Western Canada. My Grandma did lots of all kinds of home crafts if you want to call it that. I am ADHD so large projects are a bit of a chore. But I made a cardigan for my mom. Now I am making one for me. Crocheting is my thing! You are great !!

I love watching your videos. I enjoy your straightforwardness and honesty about your struggles and strengths and who you are and who you want to be as a person, crocheter, and KZbin content creator. I learned the basics of crocheting MANY years ago and just really picked it backup about a year ago. Most of my projects have been for other people and my daughter has pushed me to try new things ('Mom, can you make me this bag, but also make it bigger and make the stitches look like this?"). These projects have been fun and I habe learned so much, but I am just starting to make things for myself and figure out what I want and like. My young cousin has started to crochet as well and it has been a blast seeing what she makes! Her color choices are much different from my own, so it's cool to see how her choices come together. We don't live near each other. She was asking how to do a certain stitch and I made a KZbin video for her! It was not professional and I saw lots I would change if I do another video, but I had fun and she got the point. Thank you again for your videos!

This is exactly where my brain is at right now. I'm very restless and feeling like I'm in a rut. I made scarves and fingerless mitts as gifts this year (all were wanted or asked for) and I did learn a few new stitches for these items, but I already made a pair for myself, and I don't need another lol. I'm just feeling blah about the level I'm at right now.

Shannon, the group thing is SO true. I was in a knitting group back in the early 2000s and most of them used very expensive yarn and shopped at this one store. I hardly stepped foot in a Michael's or Joann's back then. Anyway, I stopped knitting for a while and when I picked it up again and got all my yarn out I couldn't believe some of the expensive yarns I had purchased!! Yes, they're very nice but I didn't buy in quantity and I can't afford a large quantity of some of them. I'm gonna try and use them as I can, but wow, evidently I was very influenced by the yarns they were using or I had a lot more money in my wallet then, than I do now!! And that's OK ... I love every yarn I buy ... expensive or not.

This chat is right on time for me. So comfy making scarves, hats, shawls, blankets-favorite patterns that I have practically memorized. 2025 is going to be the year I make a sweater.🥳 I don’t know why it intimidates me so! Best Holiday Wishes from my house to yours-I look forward to following you on this fun and exciting crafting journey in the New Year.❤️🎄

Merry Christmas and happy new year to you Vicki! I’m excited for you to push yourself a little this year! I think you’ll enjoy it once you get going! It’s so easy to fall into patterns tho, isn’t it!?!?!?!? 🫶🏻

Super helpful, as always. I think everyone has different strategies about this. For me, ive used openness, intuition and a willingness to magpie ideas to fuel it. On a lark a couple of years ago i bought some crochet thread, and a couple months i acquired a doodle pattern knit deck. I originally wanted to see if i could translate the colorwork patterns into mosaic crochet, but it turns they translate well into filet crochet! So im gonna have a one of a kind table runner!

Yes, I’ve decided to make filet crochet items instead of mosaic as my brain can’t handle that process.

Exactly! I am afraid of an expensive yarn that have been on my mind for years. It is a mohairyarn and I have crocheted in mohair before and it was a mess. But I want to try it again so I ordered an extra skein if I need to frog it and the yarn is hard to untangle. Now I ordered a new pattern and waiting for the parcel to arrive. This will be the 2025 challengeproject! I need something new because I love to make the same pattern over and over again. I need both an effortless crochetproject (in the car, in front of a movie, youtube) and a more challenging project that I have to concentrate on. My crochetfriends are on youtube, have friends that makes stuff but not crochet, so I apreciate this channel so much. THANKYOU!

Funny enough, this is exactly the spot I’m in right now with my hand-crafting and weaving projects: I’ve just managed to find my niches where I’m thrilled at the possibilities and have endless ideas… now I’m working on that time carving thing… gosh Dangit, is it ever hard to get out of my routines that don’t make room in my energy and time allowances for my aspirations, and to make new routines and promises to myself that I can actually follow through on so I can reach the levels I KNOW I can reach in my works 😂 sigh-one day at a time. Another great video! ❤

Ummm, assuming most of us are adults, I am sincerely hoping that as adults we are capable of liking things and doing things that are different from our friends. I only have a couple of people I know that do any crafts. It would boggle my mind that I would expect them to like what I like or vice versa. Unless people are rude and manipulative, I can’t imagine adults treating each other like this. If they are, may I kindly suggest that you find different people to hang out with or get some therapy so that you know how to politely enjoy what you like in the presence of others who are also enjoying what they like. We all learn from each other and that is diminished if we are acting like middle school children who actually believe that their life will end if there’s any difference between themselves and others in their peer group. We are adults. We have earned the right to be us in their peer group kindest way possible!❤

Guess my point was how this relates to your subject matter. Push into new territory n stop looking at Japanese crochet techniques? 👀😆 Is that breaking out of the box?
