“If an inspector is blacklisted by a dealership, that’s probably the one you want to hire.” 🔥🔥

We've been out of the RV lifestyle for nearly 20 years. So many changes have happened to RV's since then, we feel like newbies again. Thanks for the tips.

#4 is spot on. It was quickly apparent after buying our travel trailer that the dealer could not have done any of the dozens of inspections in the very pricey PDI. Virtually none of the systems worked without incident. Pipes leaked. Hot water heater was not connected to the hidden electrical outlet. Drains leaked. Even the tire pressures were dangerously low. etc. AND the extended warranty was worthless (and we cancelled it). Fortunately, between youtube videos and my handiness I was able to overcome all of the problems.

Stay away from Gulf Stream, I bought one from FEMA because it was dirt cheap and that’s all I can afford. Had to re seal the leaking roof, put a handful of screws in the walls. Fix some of the plumbing. Fix the electrical. Not to mention a dozen other fixes and the trailer was only a year and a half old. While I am happy that I got a good deal, I had to also put a good deal of work into it, if your budget is low and you don’t mind fixing one up it’s a decent way to go. also stay away from anything made during Covid times.

We have always had a travel trailer. They were mainly used for my work assignments but we occasionally went camping. Most were 10+ years old. We full-timed for 4 1/2 years in a 2000 Rockwood Ultralite that was a 3-season trailer at best. We didn't have too many issues with it other than winter (not fun). We sold it right after we bought our house to a guy who needed it for work. In 2015, we bought a 25-ft 2015 Palomino SolAire7 when one of our cats turned up diabetic and had to travel with us so we could give him his medicine. We had to relearn everything we had forgotten about towing and get used to towing with newer vehicles with computer controls. After 9+ years, it has been an excellent trailer so far. A few repairs and minor replacement of things as they age and break (which is inevitable.) This year, we had to replace the noisy 13.5K btu A/C with a nice whisper quiet 15K A/C. The slideout mechanism needs some work, as does the power awning, but it still tows well and is cozy. You have to do regular, routine maintenance and repair on these things. We're looking for a short 5th-wheel now and are still researching possible manufacturers and models. All I'm seeing are 12V reefers and on-demand waterheaters (that I am skeptical about) and payload numbers that are too small; I prefer to have more than 2500 lbs and prefer 3000 lbs if I can find one. It's not that we tote a lot of stuff. It gives us breathing room on loading the chassis and keeping it from getting overloaded. I guess we'll see what we can find and hire an inspector to give it a thorough going over before we purchase. Jason's reviews and scores have really helped out a lot.

Yeah so many watch utubers having the best time of their lives, n don't even consider if they could look after one, or better yet have deep pockets to pay someone to look after it, or even understand if RVing is for them. Like u gotta love the outdoors and enjoy your own company, this isn't the lifestyle for the social butterfly who can't handle being alone unless u plan to RV all the time with a group. Can't press enough most should rent one first, n definitely get an inspection before buying, a new one doesn't imply it's been put together properly and is all working. No excuse not to research n do your homework with the www. 🍻

Renting an RV or two or three first is by far the best and #1 thing people should do, you would be surprise the number of people that come out realizing that the RV they were thinking about doesn't fit their needs, likes and wants.

Definitely agree with this. We rented the exact model we thought we wanted to buy. Absolutely hated it and would have been unhappy had we bought it before staying in it.

I have owned RVs since 1976 and still do. With the current direction the RV industry has gone I would today be more inclined to buy a rural vacation cabin instead.

Bought my used class C last month. I did Not Do any of your mistakes. Own a TT and rented the exact type Rv, I have a camping plan and have researched for several years so I am aware and prepared for the hidden costs and I did get a 3rd party RV. I am upgrading a few things before I embark on my RV journey but everyday in my RV feels like an save and I’m loving it

Beware of where you store your RV so many places don’t have good security cameras or lights so the campers are broken into at a few places.

I recently saw a Super C for sale, it was a 2023, still listed as New. Low miles like 900. My question is, is it wise to buy a 2023, the original price was $525,00 listed for $310,00. Had many options. I realize there is a huge hit driving it off the lot, what type of discount would make it a good deal. It was a Newmar. If that helps determine your advise.

Every time I watch one of your videos ... I wonder how I could ever purchase an RV without being ripped off big time. I definitely think I need to become an RV inspector. Also how does one rent a towable RV and be safe with an anti-sway system?

I rented a different type of RV every year for 4 years, made a list of ALL costs associated with buying each type. I then compared the costs to vacationing at 5 star resorts (including places like Yellowstone lodge, Yosemite Valley Lodge, Margaritaville etc.)for the same amount of time. In the end, with the state of manufacturing quality and inflated prices, I decided not to buy a money pit.
