Our special effects wizard, Santino Ferrese, achieved the effect by building a puppet of her mandible with salad tongs! Then the team at Sandbox VFX digitally added it to her face, smoothed out the motion, and added some drippy goodness. Movie magic at its finest 🪄👹

This film was SO cute and such a great metaphor for the fear and anticipation you feel in a somewhat new relationship before exposing the "ugly" aspects of your personality, like any mental illnesses or emotional trauma you might have, not knowing how they will be received by your partner or even newer friends. Very well acted, well-written and thought provoking! Excellent work all around!

yayyy i'm so glad i finally get to see the film complete!! it was such a pleasure working on this shoot, it feels like ages ago but i still remember how lovely everyone was, cast and crew alike! if i can recall, we shot that closet scene surrounded by a bunch of solids with a little keyhole light. very cool to see it realized in the film, it reads beautifully! and the shot of the empty hallway with the warm (tungsten?) coming through is super gorgeous, and has always been my favourite of the film. i'm really happy for everyone involved that this movie gets to be seen and enjoyed by many now. i remember watching alter shorts before i started my career and now to see my name in the credits! what an honour! congratulations to everyone involved. thank you austin for having me on, and special thanks to chase and david for being wonderful department mates. see you on the next one! :-)
