My sister sadly.drowned three years ago and at the morgue I hugged cuddles and kisses her body. I felt the woman's pain. Excellent acting. Breath taking story of a morbid topic. The I actually understand when people don't report a loved one's death and keep the corpse in the house. About a year ago I read a story.About a woman sleeping next to her decomposing husband for years. I would have some the same. I would have kept my sister's corpse of I didnt know others would stop me and report

Looks like it was inspired on many points by Stephen King's Pet Sematary. But with the Leschen, a form of the Leshy, an East European "counterpart" of the Native American legend of the Wendigo that is involved in the same kind of ritual in Pet Sematary. The main character's name is Louis, like in the S. King story ;) Great short film :D

This is a very well-made short film. The film combines the themes of grief, childhood trauma and mental illness very well. Even though the film is only 23 minutes it never feels 'rushed', which is down to good pacing of the story. I really like the Supernatural aspect with the unknown creature. I especially liked the part where Louis could hear his son's cries through the creature's hand against his ear - very creative. Very good acting from the cast too, especially when the dead son was a corpse at the breakfast table being fed the oatmeal. The story was very engaging and held my attention throughout 👍🏾

I really wanted to compliment the whole cast, because these short films really make me feel the adrenaline like they were real horror movies, and on top of that, they are beautiful to watch, really very well done and with amazing actors, there is a special attention for any .small thing, and the fact that the characters are so well studied fascinates me ... it would be nice to understand if it is the channel that invents the stories of the videos, hires the actors and then publishes them with copyright ... or if it shoots videos were already been shot ... but I suppose the first, otherwise I doubt .that would have such a stir. in any case, good, really good, I love your channel.

There was a good polish and a nice consistent plot to this film that gave it a high-value professional feel, and some compelling touches. At the same time, there seemed to be a curious dynamic going on within the production team that made me think that too many cooks were apt to spoil the broth, or perhaps there was too much micro-management from on high? For instance, the makeup and costumes were actually great, but some of the lighting and camera angles helped make the actors look pretty out of place and even wooden at times. Who ok'd that? As well, the script needed more oversight because it seemed overly-long - which that had the knock on effect of making some of the scenes drawn out and repetitive. The cart trying to pull the horse? I wonder what kind of mountain of footage and instruction (demands) were handed to the editor? Whatever, the result was often given to reducing the pace of this short to a crawl and even an occasional stutter. This film was easily 10 mins too long. I have to say though, at times it all came together brilliantly, like the grave-coffin-open reveal. Pure class...classic. All in all, a good watch, and it showed a *lot* of promise - and it was by miles better than a lot of the guff out there. At the end of the day though, even though a lot of talent and time went into this film, the direction seemed to compromise the end result.

Hello, You’re right about the length, it is a bit long. The thing is some people choose to prefer dynamic videos and films because our era thought us that way. I actually like long and contemplative frescoes (but this is my point of view). Now I do realize I tried to involve a bit much a back story and that sometimes you could feel it in the film in terms of narrative. I appreciate you noticed it and actually wrote a comment about it. It’s will be now 5 years I wrote this film and I think I learned a lot since then thanks to it but also because I experienced cinema and life in general a bit deeper. I recommend you to watch my last short so you could tell me if, from your point of view, you saw some improvement.

Also if I can add some anecdote we shot a 25 min film within four days of shoot. For those who knows how the industry works, there is never enough nor money and that’s normal for an indie film. But when you shoot a scene, sometimes you have to make choices, that will impact the entire movie. I was also a bit closed minded about my vision of this film and as we had a tremendous amount of work with my editor, Yann Brogard, I think he managed to do a amazing work out of what we shot and the vision I had of my script.

@@simondoutreleau6431 thank you for responding in such terms :-) Also, thank you for the invite. I had a good mooch and watched *The Dream Eater* first. It was highly original and the elements really came together nicely - and it certainly reflects a good team with good direction. Very very professional looking, and without a hint of industrial production values. I had a proper blast watching it. I especially loved the sumptuous lighting and the practical effects and makeup. Lovely stuff. Assistant directors make a lot of difference, eh? If you're going to turn a vision into a film, it sure pays to have real-time criticism and advice, I bet. The casting though was spotty, I have to say man...and it seemed a bit dislocated from the rest of the high production values of this project. If you're going to pull in a talented young lady to carry such a demanding lead, it can go two ways I guess; they can be intimidated by the production and will need a bit of encouragement, or they can be over-confident. The former needs a kind word, but the latter needs a firm hand. She put on a great performance, but she was allowed to express too many projection traits from what I would guess is a strong stage background. The script gave her too much to play with, I think - and she was allowed too much leeway for such a pivotal and involved role, especially when she was playing off the other actors. It seemed to make the job of the actor playing the grandpa's character pretty tough when he was playing to her - otherwise, he's actually very strong as a soliloquist and was thoroughly fixating, and hugely entertaining to watch. The editing was unusual. I can see your undoubted talent for character development throughout this film, but I'm sure you realise it necessitated the film to be at least 20 mins longer. That's a problem, when the transitional elements are sacrificed - and they certainly were in this short. Bobbing in and out of his (dreaming) mind was an excellent idea, but by using it as part of the final reveal...? It veritably forced the editor to transition sharply between scenes - and there didn't seem to be any of the normal cues - different lighting..spooky music..etc, to show the change in environment. But there couldn't be such cues, because the fact the grandpa was dreaming all along, was kept 'secret' from the audience. It seemed to tie the editor's hands, and force a lot of the direction and underlying dissonance...but it also made for a film that came across too often as an extended trailer. I really liked this short a lot, and it certainly shows some pretty admirable progression from Out In The Woods. What do you recommend I watch next?

@@simondoutreleau6431 So cool! It's always great to hear some snippets about production from the writer/director! Nice one. Honestly..looking at the film, the production values alone carry it perfectly well. It has great balance, and has a good solid story and plot. As for being 'close minded'? Hell..it's always hard to trust others with your baby. It's rarely an innate thing for a person to feel able to do that freely. I just saw The Dream Eater, and can see straight away that you pulled in a couple of assistant directors to keep you in line ;-) Nice work. As for Yann...I have a feeling that perhaps you've still been a bit of a back-seat driver to him, even with The Dream Eater. Editors tend to be geniuses who work better when left alone to do their thang, man. You know it. Tbh, I'd love to see re-edits of your films where Yann is given free-rein with minimal interference.

GREAT short! Thank you for sharing this with us. Really appreciate the cinematography in your shots. Everything is in-camera and you didn't rely at all on any CG (even though "I" AM a huge CG fan) and captured everything with the lens. At least I THINK you did, couldn't tell if you didn't. Great lighting and atmosphere as well. Well done!! Cheers! : )

Thank you very much! Indeed, I rather use "on set effects" than CGI... You gain on every level of credibility plus it's easier for actors to work that way on set, it's more immersive.

Believe it or not, many people still continue practicing these type of dark magic. Not resurrecting their dead ones, but to keep their deceased loved ones spirits around through Ouija and other dark magic practices. Never do this! Just let them pass over peacefully with prayer and good thoughts towards them. Let them live however and wherever they choose to, but let them go❤

I couldn’t even get halfway through it. Most of the dialogue was so stiff and unnatural, especially for the wife. I feel like the actors did the best they could with what they had but I just couldn’t get into the story at all due to the writing, unfortunately.
