Hey everyone, I'm Ben Rand the writer/director for this film, I also did the music and a billion other things. I'd love to answer any questions about this film you may have. Any questions that can better be answered by other team members I'll try to bring em into this thread or answer the best I can. Thank you so much for watching The Lost Ones, this is the first time the film will be seen by a larger audience and I'm excited and nervous to hear what you all think.

Brilliant editing. Not an easy task. I noticed from the beginning you made some interesting choices that towards the middle and end became so cohesive. That's the fine art of editing. You start and the audience is at a "hmmmm" state, you can actually hear them. Then 2nd movement to the 3rd, (I refer to editing as a piece of music) gut punch! The ohhhh or ahhhhhh can't even set in because you've evoked so much emotion we're all in tears! Damn fine editing!

If you too have suffered a loss like this, don't let anyone, however well-meaning, tell you "you'll get over it." You never get over it. But you do, you do get past it. I can relate I lost my 2 beautiful boys and I think about ending the pain all the time...but is it worth it? It would be so selfish of me to think it ok to do... I remember the joy and happiness I was blessed to have had with my 2 babies. This was beyond heartbreak for me but also the healing part that one gets to experience is also very much needed. Thank you so much for bringing the truth and reality of this kind of pain to light. God bless everyone.

@Ben Rand What was your Inspiration on this Short Film? You and the Main Actress (as well as all the Actors gave such a realistic performance) .You did a Fabulous job on this 📽️🎥. It had me in tears. You gave respect and touched on One of the Hardest Most Profound Subject Matters. Actually 3 or 4.Deeply Difficult Human Conditions( Loss of A Child, Suicide Survival Grief and Learning to Live with the Grief (every Birthday Holidays and just Daily ).. I have had Friends ,Family and Coworkers who Children have Died even 2 From Suicide. It's a Different type of Human Suffering/Grief and Loss Its Difficult to even put into words the Emotions involved and the Pain ..Thank The Goddess I have not have Personally had to go through that level of Suffering/Loss. .Only have been a Bistander trying to Console Others . Again Words can't touch the Emotions and Pain of a Mother or Father who had just lost a child.

First of all, thank you for all of the encouraging feed back. I knew that the film could have tipped into either cheesy or even worse, disrespectful of the experiences people who experience this kind of loss go through, so I tried to keep it in the line. As far as inspiration goes, I was asked a similar question in another thread I'll post my response (hope you don't mind I copy pasted) in the next comment. Thank you so much for sharing your experiences, for watching, and again for the great feedback.

"I had just gone through a time where I had lost an unfortunate amount of people in my life I think it was about 1 year where I lost 6 people family and friends due to different circumstances some being suicide. I honestly had gotten desensitized to the concept of someone I knew and cared about just being gone. When I started writing the film for school, I really just set out to tell a story about grace and only when writing did I realize how much of that dark time period was coming out through the work. I also have a close experience with crisis centers and people myself included kind of seeing the light out in the world after believing it could never be there. A lot of good work goes on when people survive, though it's never a simple cure, moving forward is a struggle but there are so many moments that we could never believe could happen when we chose to survive."
