Hard to believe this album was recorded on 4 track analogue. It still sounds good. And that jazz/blues also is a "forever" sound. It sounds as cool to us now as it did to folks in 1969.

As a black man of 67 years, I had your same reaction 51 years ago! I heard the jazz, the blues, and the balls to wall rock! One of my chief regrets is not seeing them live as a young man. Zep was no joke.So glad you get it.

Nice reply, I actually had tickets reserved for they're 1981 In Through The Outdoor tour in Los Angeles California, and the day the date was set John Bonham died. I've pretty much seen everybody else that was in Rock and Roll history, but I really really regret not ever being able to see Led Zeppelin live, they were monumental for everything that came after them. growing up not too far from the Mississippi Delta I got to see all the blues artists, but Led Zeppelin would have been the crown jewel.

I had tickets to the first time I wanted to see them, but had to work, so I sold them. Robert Plant’s son died so the next tour was cancelled. John Bonham then died and Led Zep ended. I’m just grateful I got to hear their music when it first came out.

It sure was!! Late 60s and all 70's music i grew up with was truly amazing. Not all rock. Not all any one type. We listened to am/fm radio stations playing this stuff. And go home to our records on the turntable. Led Zeppelin still ranks #1 with me to this day. Check out ELO, ELP, Creedence Clearwater revival ( John Fogertys voice to this day is still top #4 for me) you must hear a live concert. Check out one at Adirondack Square garden

This is a combination/medley of 2 or 3 blues songs. FYI, the "schoolgirl" line was a common theme in music at the time (she's my "little girl", she's my "baby", etc.). Jimmy uses the bow on his guitar on this song as well. Led Zeppelin was well known for their improvisation and Robert would often sing bits and pieces of other songs during a performance. Here's the links for a couple of good performances of this song. The first is from their Denmark concert in 1969 (which I mentioned before) kzbin.info/www/bejne/sHaQe4Swn5eUe6M And here's one from their concert in 1970 from the Royal Albert Hall kzbin.info/www/bejne/nmqqZISbe7WYbrs (click in the description and go to the 43:15 time stamp)

What happened to music? There are no bands like this anymore. 50 years of progress, but Led Zeppelin is still the best rock band of all time. I never believed they would hold that title this long, but it might be forever. I wish we could see 200 years from now.
@jamesaron1967
@jamesaron1967 Жыл бұрын
Well, for one thing, there are no bands like this because there _never_ was another band like this, even during Zeppelin's hey day when there were many other bands to compete with. Zeppelin was king and retained a special uniqueness seldom equalled and never surpassed.. The main reasons for the eclipse of rock bands however, are the advent of electronic-based music primarily that employs computer-generated sounds, and secondly, the dominance of hip hop the past quarter century. As the boomer and gen X generations who grew up on rock music grow old and their numbers steadily diminish, the audience for this music will correspondingly decrease. It's unfortunate but nothing lasts forever.

The "I've got a little school girl" is probably from some traditional blues. Robert borrowed alot of cliches from blues stuff. The Yardbirds (previous band that Jimmy was in) even had a song called "Good Morning Little Schoolgirl"... which doesn't sound good... but they were young lads... 🙄

Jimmy Page had a groupie girl he always hung out with when he was in America who I believe was 14 at the time. I read about it in a biography. Times were definitely different back then. Even the movie Almost Famous talks about how most of those groupies were underage.

Jimmy Page wasn't a member of the Yardbirds yet when they recorded "Good Morning Little Shoolgirl". The Yardbirds song takes its title (and not much else) from another song with the same name, recorded by Howlin' Wolf.

Agreed. I don't know why people sleep on this one so much. I was trying to find the song, "Whole Lotta Love", but didn't know the title of the song. I knew it was by Led Zepplin, so I bought both albums. Bonham started as a jazz drummer. Jimmy plays the guitar with a cello bow on this song too.

It makes me happy to see others being happy watching Zeppelin for the first time ♥️ I’ve been listening since 1969 & 50+ years later I still listen at some point every single day 🔥♥️🎤🎶🎸♥️🔥

A request, Biz! Is it possible to do at least one live video reaction from the albums. Because Zep is best live. The guys were from 21-26 here in '69. Thanks Biz for covering albums

I like this format for Led Zeppelin. The tracks all stand on their own and doing them individually means more videos and more focus on each song. Way different than Pink Floyd where the whole album is a story that gets blurred when you listen to it piecemeal.

Great reaction! And don't worry about the "I got a little schoolgirl..." line. Zeppelin "borrowed" lots of old blues lyrics, it that was a commonly used line from loads of classic Blues tracks... ;)

@@watchbizmatik Have you seen these 2? They are from later Led Zeppelin when I was in my high school years. They had already spent time in India and North Africa so they fused some of the Eastern sounds into their Physical Graffit Album. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fnipeoeiatJ5rNU kzbin.info/www/bejne/n4e6i6qYpJ6prck

JPJ with that nasty bass line. I have seriously listened to this song hundreds of times and that bass at “they call me the hunter” part still gives me goosebumps.

The intro to this song is what I imagine the perfect intro in a "proper" live setting. Ease them into it, know where your drink is. Lol
