Michel Navas has quietly proven over the past two decades to be one of the most original and brilliant watchmakers in the history of horology. Ironically, his humility and contentment to work behind the limelight has contributed to a lack of proper recognition in high horology circles. Thank you Tim, Jack, and Watchbox for finally interviewing this watchmaking genius!

Much appreciated discussion. IMHO this is a unique entree to a level of watchmaking few are ever privileged to see…and after being exposed to it, even fewer who can appreciate the level of expertise, coordination, and effort involved regardless of whether this is an aesthetic that speaks to you.

Great to see & learn that LV is seriously involved in watchmaking. I only dread the cost & wait of maintenance and servicing such complicated watches when required.

This is why I genuinely love Laurent Ferrier. People bad mouth him because he didn't make his own movements, well as we've seen, it is akin to having dufour making your movement.

@@the1916companywatchreviews Don’t knock the liberal arts - learning how to learn is underrated. As for the degree, it’s common policy to push everyone through at elite schools. MIT has a 96% graduation rate (perhaps the only time an Arnault will be part of any 96% lol)

But very much an East Asian aesthetic. Overall, LV's design aesthetic leans towards the Baroque, which is very much also in the European design mainstream. If you're looking for a minimalist look, buy a Nomos.

They stole a page from Jacob and co. The Chinese market doesn't flow with money as it used to I see it in Chinese art/antiques values, the watch market overall is still in great shape but I don't think the Asian markets will sustain that kind of gaudy overpriced BS.

I have two problems with this brand: 1) Why would they place the name of the brand, in huge letter types, in the strap? Do I need people to know I am wearing a Vuitton? I think this is a huge mistake from a aesthetic point of view. 2) This one is more serious: The brand offers some 6K watches with quartz movements!!!!! Everyone knows that quartz movements are mostly used in watches to be discarded after a few years of use; most respectable brands have their quartz watches priced humbly, below 1.5 K. If I am going to pay 6K for a watch, I expect a nice mechanical movement with some complications. That's probably the reason why this brand remains as a fashion brand rather than a serious horology brand.
