DUST

Күн бұрын

Joel Fink is just another bored twenty-something looking for some excitement in an otherwise dull and uneventful life. A curious encounter outside a travel agent pulls him into an unusual world where he’s offered an even more unusual proposition.
"Thanks for the Memories" by Louis Norton-Selzer
More About "Thanks for the Memories":
Joel Fink finds himself in a travel agent being offered the trip of a lifetime - anything he could ever want at whatever cost. It won’t cost him a penny but there is one catch: he won’t remember any of it when he gets back. Why would anyone do that? The agent’s reply: it all depends on what you value more, memories or experiences? Joel decides experiences. It’s only when the agent opens Joel’s large file that we see it’s not the first trip he’s been on...not by a long stretch.

it is like the series 'severance' where group of employees do not remember anything from their daily activities which led them to not even recognize each other outside the workplace .but in general if we focus only on experience and we ignore memories then we will be a prey to do the same repetitive things without awareness

A profound short story about a very personal question - do you value experience over memory or vice-versa? Tremendously done, everything about this was great, and I felt like the story came full circle in its 10 minutes without leaving unanswered questions as shorts often do. Nice work!

My applause, it was great. Finally, I had a well-crafted story with a clear message. An important question was raised here about what is more important, memory or experience in the bottom line. And they even answered it. Lack of memory will force us to repeat the same actions, as this will deprive us of the opportunity to draw conclusions from the experience. By the way, I already guessed about this... but now I’m one hundred percent convinced. 👌

Nothing like living in the Moment of Memory. Just think before Experiencing it. You are aware of the moment you are in, so don't do anything that you wouldn't normally do. Well, since your memory will be bought and .......... who knows.

I like to remember, probably cos it's so difficult for me, an amnesiac. I wonder how things would go if I was in the situation of the client. I know when I lose time, and rarely recover anything, occasionally little bits. May as well go for it cos I'd likely forget it all anyway. ...But I'd definitely chicken out. Paying for "free" services by willingly handing over such personal data for The Company's cartw blanche use? Not on my life! And we're nearly there already, so that's super. Cheers to the filmmakers! And to Dust!

@@lightningrose3654 Not time travel & thoughts. That's silly. I meant giving away our info, photos, interests, etc. for "free" services. The internet, an increasing number of household appliances & utilities (thermostats), everything on our phones via providers & apps, TV, listening devices like Alexa, etc., and taken to the furthest degree, our memories. FBook, Insta, TTok, etc. already have the rights to your photos of family, experiences, basically the physical/digital mementos of our memories.
