I’m a professional explorer and I have to say that a watch is as important as a knife when it comes to gear. We know that Rolex wants us to believe that they offer the perfect watches for adventure. For the release of the new explorer, they show us northern lights, archives footage of Norgay and Hilary, put an epic soundtrack just to remind us that fact. And, they reveal a watch with gold ! WITH GOLD ! I can say without a doubt that when you’re in the middle of a whiteout in Antarctica by -40, you don’t give a damn about the nice gold finish on your watch. That’s crazy hypocritical

Its watch clearly made to appeal tot he female market, a real man would never buy that.

@@chinaman1 when it comes to Rolex, the explorer II is actually way more suited for adventure. But, if you don’t go in any polar regions where the temperatures can get really low and magnetism pretty high, a g-shock will definitely do the trick without ruining the bank. For polar regions there’s plenty of options out there. Solid Water resistance, accuracy and frost resistant will be the most important points on the list. Antimagnestism is a plus, but you can do without it.

Are you sure as EXPLORER buying a 10k watch rather survival equipment 🙄🙄! Man 1200$ g shock will blow any rolex as durability and reliability
@DylanTrekking3 жыл бұрын
@@mohnnadmercedes8246 Most explorer don’t buy their watches but are sponsored by a watch company. And you don’t buy a watch “rather” survival equipment. No explorer would go on an expedition naked with a luxury watch mate, don’t be silly. Read my previous answer, I talk about G-Shock. Now, I went on a polar exploration with a G-Shock, when the temperatures get really low, the watch won’t work anymore. When you’re spending time in extreme cold, you need a watch suited for it (with a watch oil lubricator that wont freeze for exemple). I love how everybody keep going at me with G-Shock and other 50 bucks watches but don’t know a thing about true extreme conditions and wear divers to time the cooking of their noodles.

silver is not getting black and smelly if you are having a normal and healthy perspiration. i wear silver all my life, my mother is gold smith and my silver never got black. its a quite soft material but 925 sterling silver is clean and stays clean unless you are not clean. its kinda good way to track if youre body is doing well with absorbing the shit you eat.

Tudor is giving us a $90 leather strap AND a $30 fabric strap for our $12,000 purchase?! Thanks Tudor!! I don't understand the thinking behind throwing $12,000 at a Gold diver on a leather strap. I think it's a cheap cop-out from Tudor. Same with the silver taupe model. Either offer them on bracelets as well, or don't bother.

Understand the point of not having ceramic on the explorer II. However they are not purpose built watches anymore. There is also no point of having a two tone explorer I, strictly speaking ☺️. So ultimately I would have preferred a ceramic alternative

Stand easy... ATWG in the house. Sense at last! Cartier are actually making some interesting additions there. Nice. Rolex? Meh. They seem to have cynically opened up a size gulf between 41 and 36mm, which they'll no doubt fill in a couple of years, with the existing oversize 41s. BTW, that 'Jungle Foul' DJ36 is so sub-GS it's laughable. Too-Duh? £12K? Do me a favour. I guess you can no longer level 'poor man's Rolex' at them... Sterling silver? Ha ha ha. Bottom line - a Chew-da is twice the price of a comparable/better Longines, Oris, Sinn or Seiko. Looking forward to your reviews of the W&W content that justifies your insight and knowledge. JLC Reverso Quadriptique... we are not worthy.

The two-tone Explorer is an abomination. Just stupid. In fact, ALL Rolex releases suck ass, except for the 36mm all-steel Explorer, which a lot of people wanted. But then why discontinue the 39mm version?!? Is Rolex somehow unable to make BOTH sizes? ABSURD! What an infuriating brand! The gold-case Black Bay 58 with green dial and bezel is FUGLY!!! And far too expensive too! Having said that, the sterling silver and taupe version is beautiful! But why have display case backs and NOT embellish the movements at all? That's just dumb.
