It was a great pleasure to meet up with Marc André and go through these two great watches. I have to admit, I was quite nervous and have noticed that I made a few mistakes, as there is no time for a "Take Two", we have agreed that Mark just publishes... here is a list of the points I wanted to correct. Many thanks and I will do my best get over the nerves... maybe a quick dram will settle the nerves for next time. Peter. 3:15 I say pendulum when I am referring to a weight. 6:48 The barrel transmit power through the train. 7:00 The balance oscillates not the tourbillon. 9:05 Bridges which covered each wheel. (Not each bridge) 10:53 Barrel and fusee (not tourbillion) 11:25 The fusee chain normally never falls off, there always remains tension but the stop-work mechanism ensures the chain can only be wound to a certain point, protecting it and using the central part of the mainspring that is the most uniform. 15:49 The lower bridges are made from maillechort/German silver the upper are steel, in earlier examples, they were mostly maillechot.

You certainly didn't seem nervous in the video. Thanks for such an informative overview of the two constant force mechanisms. I have already downloaded a deconstruction manual (GS hi-beat GMT) from your website!

The in depth watch technology education that Mr. Speake-Marin provides is much more satisfying than anything else offered about watches on You Tube. This kind of detailed analysis, comparison and historical perspective allows the viewer to become a better informed and more literate appreciator of horology. Mr. Speake-Marin is an extraordinarily effective communicator who can provide technical information without boring the audience. Great content.

I love how this channel is always very educational in a very welcoming and non posh manner. I like these real stories. Whether it's a factory visit, explanation of different mechanisms or finishing techniques etc.. I like how the entire industry is covered instead of just new watches. To me this channel is pure passion for watchmaking. Unmatched by any other channel. Your channel helped me in making decisions for my own collection. I'm now in the progress of saving up for my first high end watch from an independent watchmaker. Almost there! Can't wait to put in my order :)

20 minutes with Peter and I feel like I completed a semester horology. Add your marvelous videography and the fact that I'm a big fan of Ferdinand Berthoud. Arnold & Son is also a great, vastly underrated brand. What an awesome video, congrats. P.S. I'd love to hear the FB movement in action.

My interest in timepieces comes almost completely from a place of mechanical fascination and interest in the history behind design. Thank you for making videos that present the subject matter in a casual yet in-depth manner. The handiwork behind these pieces is nearly unbelievable.

What a great video. It is good to hear somebody attributing Arnold with one of his ideas that Breguet seems to have claimed. Now it’s time to set the record right with the tourbillon. Invented by Arnold, but he couldn’t get it to work properly. He died and Breguet made it work.
