Thank you very much for putting this together. Ferdinand Berthoud is one of my favourite 18th Century makers and his work is always interesting. Cheers from Australia

@@watchestv-com Yes he was. I'm privileged to own the workings of a 1780's Ferdinand Berthoud quarter repeater. Move the winding key 2 'clicks' on the fusee ratchet and it will start ticking happily away. I have to make a case for it though :) All the Best.

Very impressive indeed! Check out John Harisson's wood clocks. He made one that is accurate within one second per month! All components made out of wood! If you like marine chronometers, I cannot recommend enough that you read Longitude by Dana Sobel. One of my favorite stories. Its about John Harrison and his pursuit of the Longitude prize offered by the King of England. Accurate clocks turned out to be the key to finding your precise Longitude at sea, and is still the basis of modern day GPS systems. Cheers!

Great to see the inner workings of a Ferdinand Berthoud timepiece from 1775. The weight driven mechanism along with the detent escapement are an interesting combination. For a marine timepiece I was expecting a main spring drive. All the inner mechanisms are so beautiful to look. Their workmanship and ingenuity is a testament to the achievement of mankind.

5:05 what watch is he wearing? Looks like a Tissot Banana but doesn't seems like it. There's no branding/logo on 12, fully lumed radium numerals and Mercedes hands... That looks cool! Anyone have any idea? Marc, mind to ask him what is he wearing?
