TSgt Big Swole I'd say if you want a certain type of watch just save and buy it rather than spend money on a subscription. while I haven't liked every watch I've gotten the last one I got (month 5 which I'll post later today) sells online for around what my entire subscription costs. plus a lot of the members trade their watches with other members.

The Rolex you have has quartz movement and there were not any datejust oyster rolexes made with quartz movement only mechanical/automatic. Rolex watches have had sweeping motion for over 80 years and possibly from the beginning. Looks really nice though. Would still wear it!!!

I'm fairly sure that's an older movement doing 21,600 bph. So it's not as smooth as a contemporary 8 beats per second movement. It's an auto, not a quartz IMO.

Polk Co 4-H - Rolex does not sweep "smoothly." They run at 4 hz. The only watches that essentially have no ticket are Seiko Spring Drives, Bulova Precisionist, and several others models.

I want to second this. I'm wearing a Submariner right now and the second hand has a lot smoother of a sweep. This looks like you get 4 ticks per second, but mine has eight. Might be how old your watch is though, being from the 60's and whatnot. Still, what Polk Co. said jumped out to me too.

The rolex is a fake, The second hand really gives it away. There are videos you can watch that do comparisons.. but there is a higher gear ratio on the rolex which causes it not to tick like a normal watch.

And I have a tacky all diamond super bling Johnny Dang watch... And out of all of those I got more compliments on a shitty Ecko watch with cubic zirconia stones... funny how the world works

Blake Poisso it's not fucking fake. All vintage watches (watchgang gives out vintage Rolexs) tick at lower bph. The movements weren't as advanced when they were manufactured. Most watches from that era had 18,000 or 21,600 bph movements. These days the average in the luxury watch world is 28,800

Blake Poisso I own a Rolex milgauss. Rolex movements beat at 28,800 beats an hour. Or 8 tics a second. Not a smooth sweep like people think. And it’s not because it’s an older Rolex either. If you want a absolutely smooth sweep you need a Seiko with a clutch escapemeant.
