It looked like it threw Nicole off, so I assume the Russian girl didn't understand the directors instructions to first go to the wrong bag. EDIT: just watched the Nicole interview and she confirmed the Russian girl gave the producers problems (language barriers, didn't want to reveal any of her baggage, etc) and indeed she did not do the fake-outs.
