I think I was just really fortunate that my parents played a lot of different kinds of music or would buy records for me (when I figured out that I could ASK my mom to buy something for me, my first 45 was Bruce Springsteen Hungry Heart, my first LP was Blondie Parallel Lines)

Yeah, I was 17 and the Beatles were my favorite band when the news came down. One of those moments that can't be forgotten. Thanks for your kind words and sorry for my slow reply. Lovely version, Kevin. Another great professional sounding production from Griffin studios. But this song always makes me weep. John finally seemed to have finally got his head together just as that fat bastard with a too easily available pistol walked up to him outside the Dakota building. I wish John had had another 40 years at least of going with the flow. It would no doubt have been fascinating what he would have produced.
