I will never forget having a chat with her on a beach in the Bahamas in December 1969....she and Mick were staying at the same place we were. She had her son Nicholas with her. A beautiful soul. RIP.

She was a contemporary of mine, and I always thought she was an extremely silly person, who got her head turned by Jagger and Co. and tried to be a rock "muse" like her similarly vapid friend, Anita Pallenberg, and we know how that ended up. Both must have known their partners would eventually leave them for less reckless women, who would give them some stability, after the drugs, suicide attempts and bad publicity. Unfortunately, that dangerous, spuriously bad girl rock chick vibe was taken up by another airhead, Kate Moss, who wanted to be the Pallenberg of her generation, but stopped pretty quickly when she found it it meant her sponsors were not keen on her new notoriety, and she would lose lucrative contracts. If they had the sense to study history, they'd have seen that the end results were never good for the women. I don't see the point of now elevating Faithfull to some legendary, iconic status. She survived on her musical connections, and made the most of them.
