Red Star Fans are banned to attend both games in Italy, by the Italian police, as they were determined as high risk games. Its something Italian police has bin doing for years now. Last season it was Feyenoord fans. What you saw, were the ones who made it despite the ban, it was not organized, the is why they are in the middle of the home fans.

The San Siro is incredible. I went to Milan in 2022 for the F1 race at the nearby Monza - I visited the San Siro on a non-match Thursday. It was quite empty but just being there pretty much alone and seeing that mammoth of a stadium is a moment I will not forget for the rest of my life, and just taking me time to walk around the perimeter of the building and seeing all those spiral stairs and generally just how huge the whole thing was. Next time I'm in Milan I will definitely attend a match so thanks Tom for the video so we can all see how it is like on a matchday!

Watching an Inter Milan home game YET calling the Stadio Giussepe Meazza the "San Siro" is such a trigger button for me haha
@TomFMАй бұрын
I didn't realise it was only San Siro for AC! All the metro maps call it San Siro so assumed that was it's official name and the other one just the local name
@sorrynotsorry8224Ай бұрын
I just read up on this because I was unaware of any name differences. One quote on the page reads, "in recent years both Inter and Milan fans have called the stadium simply _San Siro_." So both teams use San Siro, though Stadio Meazza is the name more often used by Inter fans due to their stronger connection.

Tom you should see a derby there before it's too late, and in a lower spot. Or at least a match in the final stages there with a really serious coreography. I've had seasonal tickets for ac milan in the dinho and thiago silva years and it was insane. Everytime you go up the stairs and hear the noise, and then see the stands, and after the pitch, you feel the same emotion as the first time.

Italian football is probably my favourite for stadiums purely because multiple teams share the same stadium (Like the san siro) And a derby game will always feel like a home game in both legs

Sure, the reason for new format was monetary without doubt. But if at the same time, if Champions League football will be more watchable at fall, no reason to really complain. Issue with group stages was that many groups were effectively settled by the time they were drawn and most were done by Matchday 4. And right now, people are talking about Brest. They are 2nd after 2 games. Sure, they played the easiest opponents and it’s gonna be way tougher from now on but they have a real shot to get to the knockout playoffs. In previous format they would have no realistic shot. The one drawback is of course more games to an already packed schedule. Actually Conference League has the new format while teams playing 6 games. Not only is less punishing for teams physically but it will be even more chaotic in final Matchdays than in Champions League.

Would much prefer that all tournaments aren't seeded. So the old format but with the chance of having a group with Madrid, Bayern, Man City and PSG will produce far better games than Real Madied vs Dinamo Zagreb. I know the reason is to get an "exciting final" but most Champions League final are incredibly dull because it's two teams cancelling each other out. The FA Cup having Wigan against City, Hull against Arsenal were far better finals imo (Although the Hull Arsenal game may have been the League Cup?)

Unfortunately for you, you went to San Siro in the worst possible moment. In fact, the leaders of Curva Nord (Inter ultras) and the Curva Sud (Milan ultras) were arrested three days ago since they are allegedly connected to the mafia ('Ndrangheta, calabrian mafia). The Inter and Milan ultras in the last years centralised themselves (in fact there were only two banners: Curva Nord and Curva Sud) by expelling dissidents (the Irriducibili, a far right Inter fans group, who allegedly wanted an alliance with the Camorra, neapolitan mafia) or by turning away normal fans, who were sent to the opposite sector. The ultras of both teams allegedly used the "pact of belligerance" (made in the 80s to avoid fightings and deaths between fans) to maximise earnings (protection payment in the parking lots, selling their merchandising and receiving a cut of the beer and sandwich profits sold outside of the stadium). The Curvas have lost all of their leaders, and in fact the tifos was rather weak to normal standards.

Ive been enjoying this series so far but this video and especially the rating at the end just felt weird and disingenous. Calling the San Siro the "most iconic stadium in the world" is just a weird descriptor. I cant recall a single iconic game from that stadium, the only iconic thing about it is that its old? Like sure both Milan clubs play there but does that alone make it iconic? I dont agree with that but i also cant argue with it because you picked such a weird descriptor. Then you describe the atmosphere and outside of it being loud the atmosphere in that stadium actually looked pretty underwhelming from what we can see in the video. It looked like genuinely somewhere from 20-30% of the seats were just empty, there were basically no away fans pushing on their team. It just looks kinda sad. You just gave it almost the best possible rating for atmosphere and stadium even though its an old inconvenient stadium that looks sad and wasnt sold out and had no away crowd. If youre just gonna rate things better because of your bias then just ditch the whole rating system, makes very little sense imo.
