9:35 His story was done a little dirty in the live action but in the source material he did it because the village was always so depressed that there was nothing. He wanted to make people laugh or just to make the environment of the village more lively. Also he was never meant to tell the villagers about it. In the manga he doesn't tell the villagers and tried to defend the village himself with the help of the straw hats. He really cares about his people and especially kaya, which was downplayed by alot in the live action!

Also I always think about the scene when after Usopp leaves the village and he doesn't go around screaming about pirates the villagers all come out like "...damn where's Usopp? It's so quiet. Maybe we were too hard on him." and stuff like that. it really hit me in the feels. They did care for him as well.

Zeff eating his own leg was in the manga, but they cut it out of the anime.

It was in the anime too in the beginning when we first meet Sanji, but they retconned in when they remade the flashback episodes later in the series.

9:50 He just wants his dad to come home. He wants his mum to be alive and healthy. So badly that he's trying to will it into happen by saying it's happening. And I guess that's why he started coming up with adventures of 'The Great Captain Ussop' - he feels that because he couldn't get his dad to come home he failed to make his mum better, so he's painting himself as a hero to get rid of the guilt that he feels for something that wasn't even his fault in the first place. And I think it's also to create a name for himself so that his dad will want to see him, becoming a son with accomplishments that any father could be proud of.
