Its not a spoiler and creators didnt say anythin about it but cutting their top knot is like they cut of their ties with fire nation and royal family. Top knot in fire nation is a sacred thing, sometimes even when someone dies the only thing that they wont touch is top knot (that why zuko was bald only around that knot) also it meant that they lost their honor (more in kyoshi novels)

Re: Zuko - it's worth remembering that when he was exiled, no one had seen the Avatar in almost a century. I don't think an opportunity for redemption is really what the Fire Lord had in mind.

9:45 -- To this day I am still touched by this moment where an overt affirmation of love is expressed in such a simple, honest, open way. There's no grandness to it, no drama --thank goodness, otherwise it wouldn't feel grounded and real. Especially as a younger viewer, there was just something I loved about seeing such open healthy communication. One of many favorite Aang/Katara moments 🥰

You are very correct in assuming that his father gave him a impossible task and did not want him to return. When he sent zuko to find the avatar he had been missing for almost a century and I think it was assumed that the avatar cycle had been broken

The thing about that speech Azula makes about the tides, at first it's intimidating but when you stop and think about it you realize how foolish and naïve it is. She's right that the tides wouldn't hesitate to smash that man against the rocks, but they also wouldn't hesitate to do the same to her ship. FIght the tides and the tides will win. Really this just demonstrates how ignorant she is of the real world and with good reason, she's only fourteen years old. Molded and shaped by her father to believe she can bend the world to her whim. It's the beginning of a truly tragic story.

This is going to be good Season two, episode one. of avatar is the last airbender. I'll be back with my reaction afterwards. That was a good reaction, Nick. Zuko's sister. Azula. Is ruthless? but she is smoking hot? she is really smoking. hot. I could help her Capture. the Avatar anytime. Anybody that's a high rank. It's badly a hot girl like her. I like a hot evil girl, every once in a while. Azul was my crush. and she still is my crush. Anytime I would see her on screen, my heart would go A mile a minute. The guy said, time to bring the prisoner's home. He knew he messed up. And Azula was like, are you kidding me? I was laughing my rear end off. It's like you've got to be freaking kidding me. Why would he say prisoners? And she does not give a crap for people's safety. Unlike her brother. Zuko. and she was saying to that guy. with the tight care if the tight smashed you against the rocky shore. That was hilarious. Azula is yet ruthless. and I at the same time. Man, do I love her? because she is straight to the point. I'm very blunt when it comes to certain things. Like when somebody says something wrong or screws up. I yell at them. And I would say to my Beanie Baby dogs in my pretend world. when I was evil. And I said would the Rangers care that euthanized you? Am I Beanie Baby's dogs would say no master but the part about the rocky yard thing. Azula. has acid wit. Hashtag team Azula. forever.

Azula's entrance is one of the best depictions of a character I've seen in any media. It so perfectly encapsulates her casual cruelty, her first going with a more girlish sound, then hardening her tone as she goes on, and ending off showing her utter disregard for if THIS person obeys her, or his immediate successor, that she just wants it DONE. So good.

People in the fanbase get to fixated on the ages of characters, its anime guys. Like sure Azula is 14 but NOT A SINGLE 14 year old girl in the world talks that way or would be able to talk that way to a adult ship Captain at that age lmao. Just enjoy the characters for their personalities, no need to constantly bring up the fact Aang is 12 or Azula is 14 like who cares they obviously arent being written to act like that age or the show would literally be insufferable and impossible to watch.

Like literally every single damn video, its just annoying. Who cares about their age when it obviously isnt important to the writers who not once explicitly even state 95% of the characters ages. I think only Toph and Aang get canon Age drops within the dialogue of ATLA, and all the other ages including Azula were told to us by the creators and comics and stuff post ATLA coming out.

While the creators were writing this episode they originally wanted Azula to disintegrate the captain with here fire immediately after his mistake. Of course it was changed but that just shows you what Azula is like.

This take makes me want to puke. Season One is on par and well within the quality range that Season Two is, what show were you watching? It isn't just some stupid kids show until the second season. I am sooooo sick of this stupid narrative. Season One is ESSENTIAL to the entire story just like the other two seasons and has plenty of the best episodes in the entire show included within it. Please watch the show again before making such ignorant opinions on one the best TV shows of all time. The whole thing is 10/10 from beginning to end.
