I'm from Vegas (technically Boulder City but whatever) I saw this movie with my girlfriend when it was in theaters. And right when Rango reached the top of the mountain and saw Las Vegas, her and I did a kind of double take at each other. Just outside of Boulder City is a long, straight, rough 2 lane highway. On the east side is untouched desert with dry dead brush scattered around. Immediately on the order side is a large, barin, dry lake bed, which reaches all the way to the base of a small mountain. You can hike to the top of it and see all of Las Vegas. It was a shock to see this movie absolutely has to be based exactly right there. It was just a 10 minute drive from my house to get to that area.

A flawless film, IMO. After more time passes, you'll give it a solid 10.

The main character’s name is never mentioned in the movie, and he’s just referred to as Hero Boy in the credits and such. All of the characters in the story are nameless (except Billy). It is intentional because it’s supposed to symbolize the universality of the story. He is supposed to be a symbol for childhood wonder on Christmas, and represents every child instead of just one character. I think it’s interesting, so that any child could imagine themselves on this journey. But there are some sources that say Hero Boy’s real name is Chris, in reference to the author of the book Chris Van Allsburg, which also makes sense because the book is written in first person. The girl is also nameless and is referred to as Hero Girl for the same reasons, but her real name is Holly.

Aside from the occasionally uncanny human animations, the CGI, score, and sound design of this movie is incredible. Holiday classic.

Just came across this reaction video (are you still reviewing films?). I remember being scared out of my 5-year old mind (especially as the Tin Man chops down the door to rescue Dorothy) when I saw "Oz" in the theater in 1956. Your very open, honest and joyous reaction reminds me of the child-like thrill kids experience when first seeing it. But it's taken me many more years (and serious discussion) to appreciate the fact that these 4 innocent, benign characters (Dorothy and her 3 friends) must suffer and endure such terrifying challenges, when in fact they already HAVE the very things they risk their lives to obtain from the Wizard. And as you point out, he explains this to them as he "unlocks" and releases these qualities within their subconscious by means of a physical SYMBOL....diploma, medal, clock; there's something very profound in this, which you sensed on a first viewing. Nice job! You were also struck by the fabulous musical score; yes the songs themselves are wonderful, created by one of the greatest teams of the era (Arlen and Harburg), but the ORCHESTRAL/BACKGROUND score (by the great Herbert Stothart) is perhaps the greatest symphonic work of art in the history of cinema. Judy Garland's performance is also one of the greatest in movie history, her sincerity and realism creating an emotional depth that "over-rides" the more humorous aspects of the film (several "in-jokes" included). And the supporting cast: Frank Morgan (the Wizard, Professor Marvel, the 2 Oz guards, the coachman) and Bolger (Scarecrow), Haley (Tin Man) and Lahr (Lion)..each with LONG experience in stage, radio, vaudeville, song, and dance...ALL elevate this film WELL BEYOND the merely charming and novel; it is a profoundly beautiful work of art, that captures not only the youthful spirit of the times in which it was made, but which will continue to enchant us into our old age (and beyond).

Would like too watch you watch 1971s "The Boyfriend" starring Twiggy... It's a homage to the twenties borrowing heavily from Warner Bros/ RKO musicals of the thirties along with the work of Britians 30s musical star Jesse Matthews...( Her films aren't really known to Americans and they're awesome)

I want you to try the 1930s version of :" She"... RKO.. Randolph Scott...the colorized version makes things easier to see...great special effects!!!

I'm going to be 66 soon .. I grew up with all the great movies on local independent TV stations...You remind me so much of my best bud when we were in our twenties working in film...over forty years later he's an O.R. nurse in Manhattan with grown kids and I never married...( Don't fall in love with actresses....she's two husbands down and in Florida!!)... I love rewatching films with another generation and seeing how you feel ..youth flies so live every moment and live for the REAL Jesus Christ NOW...not fake religion...OK? God bless young man!

12:41 Why was this bit mentioned at al? it sounds like a good reference, but its soo out of place.. Also, I would say the end of the second (the trailer for the 3rd), sounds like a spoiler for me if I never seen Pt 3 yet... But you'd still be surprised how Marty got back to the future from 1885.. so I guess there is that surprise.

We were soo far off flying cars.. I would think the past would have been more easier to do,,,.... Don't have to predict anything that way.. So, in a way it kind of all makes sense... Give it your best shot at predicting the future... In this case, they overshot it. I also reckon they had to find a way to kill of Jennifer, so perhaps this was better way to handle it ? They kind of really didn't have a plot around it anyway.

At around 40 minutes you're kind of talking about assuming the worst. Augustus is not assuming the worst. Best case scenario at that point for him, he lives for maybe a few months. Worst case he's dead in an hour. He is assuming a fairly best case actually, where he'll live long enough to hear Hazel's speech. It's not assuming the worst when you assume you'll die soon when you are about to die any day. It's factual for him to assume he'll die soon. Because he is on his death bed.

There’s a video like movie where Sonic Tails and Conker from Conker’s Bad Fur Day play as a different take on our characters from the original movie the difference is Conker didn’t die from the shark he was in his stomach and when Sonic tried to shoot the canister but the shark accidentally swallow it but Conker use it to inflate the shark and after that Conker falls into the forest but not no ordinary forest which he heard a T Rex roar which the video is made by a independent studio known as balenaproductions they did Gmod content and they are now about to Source film make animations

The man who was talking to Moses is God. He appointed Moses to do his work in his name. God seen that his people was oppressed. He was the one that made the burning bush and was talking. The staff will not magic God just did his wonders and miracles through that staff to free and heal the people from Egypt.

Watching a movie about a goose makes me think of the movie called Fly Away Home from 1996. the fox for some reason gives me extreme Templeton the Rat vibes from Charlotte's web both of the cartoon and remake. This fox the way he's talking. I don't know why I just get a major flash to Templeton the Rat.
