Why yes, there was a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory theme park ride, based on Roald Dahl's works, at Alton Towers. By the way, the movie was released in theaters in 2005. Also, the 2005 movie is not supposed to be based off of the Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971), it is supposed to be based off the original Roald Dahl book. In fact, if the 2005 film seems strange compared to the 1971 film, chances are that it is because the 2005 film follows much more closely with the book.

Actually, there was a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory ride here in the UK at the Alton Towers theme park. It ran from 2006 to 2015 and was a good ride during it's run before it sadly closed. The ride's theming was more on the book rather than the movies and it had a nice smell of chocolate when entering the factory in the queue line. The ride had two segments, the first segment was a boat ride through the factory showing scenes of what happens to the kids and the second segment is a ride in the glass elevator where you stand in a big room which had screens on all sides and on the ceiling and the floor shakes and moves about to give the simulation of moving through the factory. I still miss that ride as it was a great addition to Alton Towers. Shame it had to go.

I love both film versions of this story. I saw the original film in my younger days and saw this when it came out in theaters. This version is more faithful to the book; even the songs in this film are in the book. I did love that we got an origin backstory for him that explains his antisocial skills with the adults. When Willy looked for an heir, he thought he would find a good and honest child who had parents or a family that didn’t appreciate him like how he felt rejected by his father. It took Charlie choosing the love for his family over the factory to show Willy Wonka that he would never be satisfied with his achievements until he reconciled with his father. You can even see that despite Wonka’s father’s opinion about his career choice, he still loved him and was proud how he did succeed by his own hard work. Also that he too wanted to reconcile with Willy and just needed the opportunity. 🍫🎩

I'm litteraly on a CatCF reaction streak, and I was appalled that there was so little of it... So I'm so glad you did one ! I personnaly love the movie, the "weirdness" is clearly not a weakness IMO.

I never realized it was Johnny as a kid until now. That shows my talent. He and Tim are such a great duo.

One of my favorite things I've heard about this movie is that Deep Roy, the guy who played the Oompa Loompas in this version had to film each song 165 times

I remember when i first saw this movie it gave me nightmares when some of the kids started to get picked off one by one with the ways they choose for them to go. Basically, it made me think that that stuff would happen to me. My mum had to keep telling me that it wouldn't. This is my first time in years seeing this movie it is really good. Love your videos! I always smile and laugh when watching your videos.

Indeed. But in the book, Augustus went from a fat boy to a boy as skinny as a pole from all that squeezing in the pipe and Mike was stretched 50 feet high with really long toes.
