There's an article that goes over the family being problematic and unhealthy towards Kevin. I think it mentioned him showing signs of behavioral disorders or something else and the family took their frustrations out on him and let the children bully him. The fact that they left him alone and got on the plane speaks volumes alone, but if you really absorb how they treat him you can see why he shouldn't be in that household and why he tends to lash out.

The second one makes it even more obvious than the first one does, what with Buzz humiliating Kevin on stage in front of everybody and their mother father sister brother aunt uncle grandma etc. and the parents just brush it off while freaking Uncle Frank keeps laughing about it even when Buzz is **supposedly** apologizing. All that emotional abuse and neglect, it's no wonder Kevin is so vicious when he's threatened by Marv and Harry, and a miracle that he has the heart to touch the lives of lonely old men and poor jaded women.

True story: my late father would crack up just watching the trailer on TV. My sister came home from college for break and we took him to see it on opening weekend which was also Thanksgiving. It was packed! We were in the middle of a huge theater, surrounded by little boys. There was a row of kids in front of us that were having a birthday party (matching shirts) and one of them almost made me have a stroke. I'll come back to him. Anyway, you all know the movie, but when the third act started up, the whole theater exploded with laughter. It was friggin bedlam in there! However, no one laughed harder than my dad! He had the greatest laugh that ever existed! He was also very short and round. I was taller than both of my parents by the time I was 8 (I'm 5'4) by a lot. So this little boy from the party turned around, pointed at my dad, who was in his late 60's, and screamed, "even the big kid is laughing!" I almost died from laughing. My sister laugh-cried herself into a bloody nose. It was awesome! Flash forward to a year later when they released "Home Alone" on to video (for the kids out there, it could take years for a film to be released on to VHS back in the day) and my genius mother pre-ordered it for us. We hosted a "Come Watch Dad Watch "Home Alone" Party," which we had catered and 25 adults showed up, to sit with their backs to the TV, on the floor, just to watch my dad laugh. Best. Party. Ever.

It wasn't until I was older that I realized the perfect storm the led to Kevin being left home alone: His plane ticket being mistakenly thrown in the trash the night before, the power going out causing everyone to panic, Kevin getting banished to the attic so he would miss the noise and get overlooked, the nosy neighbor kid poking around in the van and getting counted instead, and the phone lines being knocked down so the parents couldn't call home. When you put it all together it seems totally believable that Kevin would have been left behind.

Throw It In: Catherine O'Hara forgot her lines in the airplane scene where she realized that they left Kevin *home alone.* The *iconic shouting of Kevin's name* was her attempt to salvage the take. They not only ended up using the take, but the "Kevin!" shout became forever linked to the film series.

2:30 That composer is John Williams. The King of iconic film soundtrack motifs. The Jaws motif, the Harry Potter theme, Indiana Jones, E.T., Jurassic Park, & Home Alone 1 & 2....all his work! He's been in charge of the film scores of all 9 main-episodes of the Star Wars films too. He's pretty much retired now, though. He's doing the next Indiana Jones film score & that's it for him. Yep, I still watch Home Alone every year. And I watch Christmas movies all year round, if I feel like watching them. Most of them are just set at Christmas time and aren’t actually about Christmas, so the happy endings (I feel) can be enjoyed anytime. Queen Latifah’s Last Holiday, The Holiday, While You We’re Sleeping, Die Hard… then there’s the Muppet Christmas Carol which is about Christmas, but I can just watch anytime because it’s hilarious and I love the songs, All I Want For Christmas is a cute movie.

I was exactly Kevin's age when this movie came out and even little 8 year old me was shocked by his rude behavior, but I also didn't like how his family treated him too. I will admit, this was the movie to make me look forward to the day when I could be left alone inside my house for the first time, which was when I was 13 lol. I do prefer the sequel though over this one because I felt the family was more likeable, the story felt stronger, the comedy was better, and well, Tim Curry was in it and he's one of my fav actors lol.

Great video as always Billy. My favourite is the second one too. The scene with the hotel staff coming for Kevin with the "get down on your knees" bit always cracks me up. A theory is that Kevin's dad works for the mob or something from how wealthy they are and when he first meets Harry in his cop disguise and assumes he's in trouble when all the "cop" did was asked for the house owner. When talking about the house, Harry calls it "the Silver Tuna" and "the big score". In the second film, Kevin has his dad's bag which just happens to a load of cash inside, something which no one would naturally carry on them unless they're into criminal activity. Could you also react to Rise of the Guardians if you haven't seen it yet? #binges

Fun fact, the Home Alone house has been turned into airbnb, so you can stay in it now, my understanding is that is very expensive. Sadly the driveway and the statue that kept getting hit has been removed. PS. You should watch a doctor commentary about the injuries that the robbers sustained if they were real....... painful watch

You got that quote from Christmas Story haha (you'll shoot your eye out)! My Papa and Great Uncle David have me and my mom and family watch it all day Christmas Eve and the entire afternoon of Christmas. It holds so many laughs and precious memories for my family (I wrote this when you asked in the reaction, everything written was written after that haha) I do watch this at least twice during the Christmas season! This movie is such a classic and thank you for reacting to it!!

A Christmas story! Poor Ralphie. Home Alone 2 is still my top favorite, the message is deep! Really more Christmas-y. My fam had the tradition to due Miracle on 34th on Thanksgiving, Scrooged when we do the big family tree, Polar express when all the decorations are officially done, and It's a wonderful life on Christmas Eve. (Any other fun Christmas movies are done through the month)
