Criston clearly provoked Harwin on purpose and was even intentionally not fighting back knowing it will be broken up momentarily. He made Harwin overtly and demonstrably tell the world the facts. When he says, 'Thought as much' at the end, that's essentially him saying, 'I win.' Dick move but he clearly won in this instant by achieving his goal.

Ned being appointed a hand lessened Lannisters control over realm and king, and they dont exactly want to share power. In other words something would've happened to Ned anyway and Robb/Cat would blame Lannisters for it.

But you could also argue that those things only happened because Cersei was actively trying to deceive Robert about the kids. In Rhaenyras case, Laenor already knows. Her father knows. The Velaryons know. So even if confronted, no one is going to try and kill anyone or start a war because everyone involved knows the score and loves the kids.

(During the roof scene with Laena) Daemon stares into nothingness, zoned out thinking, into cutting the scene slowly to Rhaenyra staring into nothingness zoned out thinking. Clever editing indicating to the viewer that they are thinking and longing after each other, their deepest desires. Not sure how many picked that up. She was even fingering the same meeting ball Daemon used to have, unconsciously just like she was doing with the necklace (start of ep 4) Daemon gave her. And Laena ofc pointed out that she was not the wife he really wished for. Small subtle clues.

Try to take urselfs out of 2022 mindset. The king is breaking all tradition to put his daughter as heir and Rhaenryra is doing nothing for the last ten years to strengthen her claim and having 3 kids that don't have silver hair or are even black. If RT claim is weak that leads to dissension within the kingdom, people will then start to look at heirs with stronger claims(alicent kids or daemon), and that fuels Alicent paranoia about if RT will kill her children.

By the way , there was just a direct comparison with Viserys . Daemon explicitly refused to cut his wife, Daemon first asked if his wife would survive, while Viserys asked if the child would survive. Daemon almost shook his head with refusal , but Laena went to the dragon to die the death of a dragon rider, as she wanted , saying this at the beginning of this episode .

Once again, different context... Like you said, the fact that Daemon was thinking of going one way and Viserys another doesn't make him a "better person"... In fact, is pretty clear and set in stone who among those 2 is indeed the better person... It's just that when it came to making a decision Viserys was overwhelmed with the pressure of the succession in his mind, so when the choice of "either we try to save the baby causing pain to the mother or we let them both die", he decided to try and save the baby

To be honest, Daemon didn't have a son, and he would probably really want a son for himself too, it would be very good for him in many ways, so in theory he could do it too, especially since he definitely didn't love Laena the way Viserys loved Aemma, but he still didn't.

Also, he did not kill his wife, Aemma was going to die no matter what; he just decided to go ahead on a painful procedure, but she was dying either way The reality is that if we were to make a guess, given what we know about Daemon; if he were is Viserys position he would've made the same the decision as Viserys; likely even faster in making that call... Given that Viserys is the compassionate, calm and collected one; and Daemon is the violent and impulsive one... I think Alicent feels betrayed after sticking up for Rhaenyra and trusting her just for Rhaenyra to swear on her mothers memory she was a virgin. Hence the resentment also the bastard situation with all 3 of Rhaenyra kids isn’t a good look for the hole family as well. Allicent also knows that her eldest son Aegon has a claim to the throne and many people in Westeros would back his claim so he is a danger to Rhaenyra succession giving reason for Rhaenyra to kill all of Allicents kids. Also Rhaenyra has no true born heirs just bastards. I think Rhaenyra has been pretty foolish and naive into thinking she can get away with doing this and now Allicent is on to her

Loved the reaction. Y'all might be my favorite reactors currently for this show. Loved the GOT reactions. Viserys & Rhaenrya didn't make amends, they weren't at issue last episode. She understood why he had to do what he did in ep 4 & he fired Otto like she wanted so they were squared. Nothing last episode happened negatively between them. Alicnent on the other hand ended last episode literally hating Rhaenrya with all her guts. She never got over that anger. Thus why she acting like a bitch lol. Laenor knows the kids are Harwin's. He & Rhaenrya made the deal to sleep with others even while they marry each other publicly. He was cool with it. The kids name is Joffrey because that was Laenor's lovers name who Creston killed. Lastly, even though Laenor is aware they're not his kids he still treats them as if they are. And I must say the bullying they did to Aemond is like so tame compared to anything even my older bro did to me. Let alone compared to the type of bullying we often see in fiction or even in GOT world. Also Dragons can't be given to anyone. Dragons pick their riders, there is no true taming or Forceful claiming. Aemond doesn't have a dragon because none of the dragons in the pit want him. Viserys knows the truth about Rhaenrya's kids he just doesn't care because that's his daughter & regardless who she fucked the kids are his grandkids. I mean at the end of the day he's king period. He decides if it matters. She is heir & should be allowed to fuck whoever. But due to the era they have to lie. There's no choice but to lie period. Glad we're at this ep so we can put this whole "Rhaenrya would kill the kids" thing behind us. Aegon was friends with JAce/Luke until lame-O mom Alicent yelled in his face about his sister going to kill him even though there's not a shred of evidence pointing to Rhae ever even considering doing that. 10 years have past, & we've heard nor seen not a single piece of ANYTHING that justifies Alicent truly believing her family is in dangers. There's no reveal of any threats made in that time period from Rhae, no evidence anything was done by Rhae in that time. And there certainly wasn't shown anything like that in this episode. Rhae is a good person & Alicent never should've turned on her, she should've rightly kept turning on her POS Dad. 1st ep Caraxes was in daylight, 2nd ep he was in daylight too. start of 3rd was a night scene but we later seen him return to camp in daylight, he's in daylight in ep 4. We've seen his full design by now. But I agree his legs/neck/tail/literally everything about Caraxes is bad ass. Best dragon ever. I like how Daemon wants to be done with Westeros & live out his days peacefully in Pentos. I do wonder though, if he truly left & stayed permanently in Pentos/Essos. Would Viserys allow it? I mean that gives at least 3 dragons to Pentos now. Even if Daemon & his fam never attacked Westeros what about when they die & the Dragons pick new Pentos riders? (I'm aware it's implied only Targs can ride them but in the books there's def hints that others can too) Wouldn't they provide Essos nations a large step up in military power? Anyway I like that he wants to be out but it's Laena pushing him to return. She knew what we know. Daemon is greater than some chill farmer doing the bidding of another. He's THE blood of the dragon. And while I like her pushing him to that. I do think he has a right to be pissed at her for continuously trying to convince him to return. It's not her just wanting to visit home, she wants him to go back & assert himself into the politics again & make a bigger name for himself which he doesn't want to do. Which is where Alicent's hypocrisy shines through. She was going behind Rhaenyra's back to visit with Viserys for god knows how long and Rhaenyra had what? One night? She swore on her mother that she and Daemon did not have sex. No lies detected. What Alicent is, is jealous. She only sees her burdens and not Rhaenyra's. She doesn't take into account her struggles. It's a very human quality, but both of these women have been put in really shitty situations. Rhaenyra has a gay husband that can't produce heirs and the whole ass weight of a prophecy looming over her head. Both situations suck.

I really dont understant poeple comparing Rhaenerya's situation to Cersei's !Cersei lied to her husband (who is far to be a decent husband or father, but still...) making him believe that the kids are really his, usurping the Baratheon name against his will and passing her kids are legitimate claimaints to this throne, while she actually could have given him trueborn children. Jace, Luke and Joffrey, regardless of who their parents are are Jace, Luke and Joffrey Waters, just like Tommen, Myrcella and Joffrey were Waters. They are all bastards who are ineligible to inherit either land or title, much less the throne of Westeros. Viserys said what Alicent was speaking “will bring about destruction” for the same reason Lyonel screamed on Harwin for his participation in Rhaenyra’s Bastard Factory. Passing illegitimate persons off as legitimate and placing them in the line of succession is an act of treason punishable by death. It doesn’t matter what house their parents belong to. If they’re born out of wedlock, they don’t qualify. Since Viserys is pretending nothing is wrong, he is complicit in Rhaenyra’s treason. The only person who doesn't think so is the king, out of pure denial, and that's where the frustration lies - the king is ignoring his own laws of succession for his daughter, making the truth itself taboo at court. Ned and Stannis experienced the same frustration at Cersei for her illegitimate children and the whole audience was on their side. Rhaenyra being heir isn't directly the biggest problem (although some people would prefer a male and believe there is legal precedent for that) - it's her heirs being illegitimate that is the main issue. Bastards are born out of dishonesty and disloyalty and are believed to inherit these traits. For "rule"-followers like Alicent it's particularly egregious (not to mention she's very religious too and adultery is a sin), especially when any claims made in her son's name and in the name of the truth could threaten their lives.

I think Alicent is mad because Rhaenyra thinks she can do whatever she wants without any consequences. And she's not entirely wrong. Rhaenyra does come across as terribly entitled. And despite the fact that Aegon seems completely unfitting to be king Rhaenyra is indeed stealing his birthright. He is the one who should be named heir after her, but of course, this would never happen. Having bastards it's one thing but trying to put them in the succession line before true-born sons is completely different. Moreover, the fact that Otto lost his job for doing nothing wrong fuels Alicent's rage cause she realises that in the end, it's "them" against her family. Regardless of personal preferences and whether you like a character or not, I get Alicents perspective. Joffrey is just a fairly common Westerosi name. If he's named after anyone, Joffrey Baratheon is much more likely to be named after the historic King of the Rock, Joffrey Lannister. There is no Joffrey Targaryen - there was Laenor's lover Joffrey Lonmouth, and now there's baby Joffrey Velaryon who was named after Lonmouth.

My second least fav episode. One, not making it clear the baby was dead inside Laena. And if the are not going to….. Giving her enough character development that would explain why she’d kill her child, instead of trying for c-section, even if it only gave 1% chance. 1% is better than zero. This episode is when I lose almost all of my respect for rhaenyra. She had a duty to have children with her husband yet she chose to indulge other men to get pleasure. I understand that was their arrangement but as a leader future Queen you have to strengthen the your claim. It was already going to be hard for her to become Queen because she’s a woman and now she’s recklessly given the people even more reason to not make her queen by having bastard heirs. She’s just making it harder for the people to accept her as Queen. And on top of that her choosing sex with other men not only puts her life in danger but the children she chose to have on top of whoever fathered the children. It was a selfish decision on her part. I wouldn’t want someone to be queen who isn’t willing to sacrifice their own joy and pleasure for the greater good. And alicent knows rhaenyra hasn’t been doing her duties and acting like someone worthy of being heir to the iron throne and she doesn’t even try to hide it which would make anyone annoyed and upset especially someone like alicent who always does her duty and does with us asked of her no matter what while rhaenyra does the opposite. Alicent married an old guy and gave him children because her father told her to. rhaenyra couldn’t even commit to only having children with her man. This is when I turned on rhaenyra. You probably haven't watched the series, because in episode 7, Rhaenyra herself says that they can't conceive a child, is it her fault that he can't do it? They tried many times. She must have some children to strengthen her right to the throne. Since she cannot conceive a child with Laenor under any circumstances, she must have at least someone to strengthen her position. She had to pass off the bastards as real children . I want to note that Laenor recognizes all children as his own, and he will never change his mind. It's not her fault that she's in this situation. Alicent poisoned the minds of all her children, making Rhaenyra an enemy for them. Rhaenyra never even wanted to consider the murder of Alicent's children, but she has paranoia and envy. The whole situation would have been solved if Viserys had married Daemon and Rhaenyra. So yes, of course you can have your own opinion, but to assume that Rhaenyra doesnt want to fulfill her duty is to look at the situation one-sidedly, just like Alicent

He has read the book Ice & Fire which is House of the Dragon. So, just like me when I watch I tend to have an idea about what's coming and am not completely shocked. I don't think Dan would fake reactions and if you've read the books you have a general idea of what's coming next.
