Watching Paint Dry. 1979 AMF Harley-Davidson XLH1000 Ironhead Sportster

Brief overview of the primary cover; what goes where, and why.

That part of the primary cover wasn't painted. It actually had a thin aluminum decal with adhesive on the back. the other side would have XLH, XLS or whatever model and 1000 printed on the surface, showing model and engine size. I have a 1979 XLS Roadster and decided to do a complete tear down and rebuild with some engine upgrades along with brand new wiring harness and upgrades to the electrical system and some badass paint. I did all the work including paint and gold leaf.

I think I saw those decals years ago; I remember them because Harley people generally use cubic inches, and it struck me as unusual.
