There needs to be more Savage Garden appreciation. I remember vividly that moment where Savage Garden, Third Eye Blind, Matchbox 20, and The Wallflowers were all releasing music owning the air waves.

As an artist and someone who came up through the entertainment industry, the song “crash and burn” has an extra special meaning. The industry can be a very cruel place with so many people trying to claim their piece of a very small pie. The struggles can weigh heavily on one’s mind. This was even worse in pre smartphone and pre (widespread)internet days. Without friends and family to support and lend a place to crash and burn, some people see their flames extinguished. This song always makes me think of the human spirit and the friends you find in the darkest places-or the ones who find you. The sign language Darren performed at the end of the video gave the song something of a early 2000’s viral boost. Entertainment news reports started reporting on fans who were smitten with Darren’s sign language fluency. It turns out that his band mate was either married to or was dating someone who was deaf. She taught Darren the signs and he performed it in the most confident and heart wrenching way. I only know a few signs, but I felt his every word. That will always be my favorite part of the video. This was the group’s final US hot 100 hit.

Yeah. His solo songs from the early 2000s are great, too. Insatiable, Miss You, Beautiful among the few. Also, bops like Strange Relationship, Popular and 1980 ME. I call this era his public coming out in a subtle way.

Great choices of SG songs. I never get tired of hearing their songs. I'd love to see you react to "Two Beds and a Coffee Machine" and "Lover After Me". In my opinion, Their debut album "Savage Garden" and "Affirmation" album do not have a bad song on either one. These guys were at the top with hit after hit after hit. Darren's voice and Daniel's musical talent were the perfect combination.

I just love the message of Affirmation. I was just thinking actually after your last video I watched you should do something with Savage Garden, and here you are doing it! I suggest being utterly blown away by his operatic duet with Pavarotti on O sole mio.

I have my favorite songs by Savage Garden, but to be honest i love them all because Darren's voice is so beautiful and magical I could listen to him sing the phone book and I would still enjoy it lol....Some of my favorite songs by him as a solo artist would have to be; So Beautiful.....Bloodstained Heart.....I Miss You.....Darkness.....Popular.....Crush(1980 Me)....and Strange Relationship, and I believe all of those have music videos. I have other favorite songs by him but there's no videos for them so I won't mention them. Thanks for continuing to react to Savage Garden, I do enjoy your reactions!

Just binge watching some of your videos and found the savage garden series. I absolutely love them (love your videos too you do a great job). There's a brilliant Angelina Jolie film from the 90s called hackers that features affirmation and also crash and burn on the soundtrack. It's honestly one of the best soundtracks of any 90s film

For the "To The Moon And Back" song, there's actually 4 music videos for it. The US/UK version (this one), the original Australian version (in black and white), another version set inside an apartment (apparently in Malibu), and a dance remix version which uses the footage from the first one. Original: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fmbdlJmep6eFaas Malibu: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qoSqe5eDrbyHeNE Remix: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jWWmdn2mlJiGa6M I'm biased 'cause I'm Australian, but I think the original is more entertaining and more closely refrences the song's lyrics, but to each their own. Also, "Affirmation" has two music videos. This one (tour footage from a show in Brisbane), and the original, which is a clip montage from some of the biggest moments in recorded history. Original: kzbin.info/www/bejne/b3TLopegjp2Sos0 Yep.

To the Moon and Back has been my favorite Savage Garden song since I first heard it back in the 90s. I would love to see you react to some videos from A Flock of Seagulls. They weren't taken too seriously in the 80s because of the singer's crazy hair, but they had some really good songs and I think you'd like them.
