To answer your confusion about Peter’s powers, Monica. In most comics and cartoons, Peter was bitten by a genetically enhanced spider, granting him his powers. But he usually has to build a set of mechanical web shooters and mix a special web fluid himself. Only the first film series changed it to giving him organic webs

It's funny how fans now criticize Holland's Spider-Man/Peter for not showing or overtly referencing his origin, Uncle Ben or having the "With Great Power" mantra (for the time being) in his MCU appearances for the most part. But people have to remember than when Holland's Spider-Man was introduced in "Civil War", we were only 2 years removed from the Andrew Garfield movies, where a major criticism was that they SHOWED THE ORIGIN again. So when it came time for a new Spidey to be introduced in the MCU, the powers-that-be decided to take the "Incredible Hulk" approach, and just have Peter be Spider-Man already, and merely hint at his origin, as fans already knew the general info.

In the comics Spider-Man is bit by a radioactive spider which gives him his super strength, spider senses, and stickiness, but he always makes his webs artificially to tie in how smart he is scientifically. The early Spider-Man movies changed that up a bit by having that Peter Parker (played by Tobey Maguire) develop the ability to shoot webs out of his wrists. That’s not exactly comic book accurate tho.
@blueroninstudios
@blueroninstudios 2 жыл бұрын

A spider can lift 170x their weight, and if Peter has inherited a spider's powers, he could lift about 25000 pounds, roughly translating to 12.5 ton. But in the comics it has been proven he can lift up to 100-300 tons if under extreme conditions. - googled

It wasn’t a regular spider though, it was a genetically enhanced spider so he should be able to lift way more than that
@surfersilver6610
@surfersilver6610 2 жыл бұрын
Nope. 616 Spidey was a 10 tonner so 12.5 is accurate. There was a (few)time(s) he had enhanced powers and then he had 30+ Ton abilities for a short time. Once he held up a building support(buildings/homes have many), but he wasn't holding the whole building, he was just stopping that section from falling, if it fell then the whole structure could collapse, so there is a difference. A heavy cabinet/bookcase could start to fall over and I stop it with my body and keep it from hitting the floor, but that does not mean I can lift it over my head. Hulk did a similar thing with a mountain range in Secret Wars but he was only supporting(Not lifting) the part above the heroes and not the entire range. People don't understand the laws of physics at all. I've seen too many inaccuracies via Google, and since you can't spell it properly with G not g, then you proved my point of information on heroes being wrong or misplaced.
@Syfa
@Syfa 2 жыл бұрын
It used to be 10 tonnes, then it was switched to 25 tons, but he has also since been said to be able to do 100 to 125 tonnes without exerting himself. Officially in the comics, spider man is ranked as a "power level 8" superhero... which also includes Captain Marvel. He is technically every bit as strong as her (when at his prime) if not stronger... however he holds back *a lot* as he doesn't really want to hurt people and he's never been super interested in testing his strength. Though power level 8 also has a lot of variance because Steve Rodgers is also power level 8 and his "superhuman" attributes are slightly beyond "peak human" (though when 'regular' humans are able to lift 800lbs in comics that kind of sets the scale) in every regard, with some exceptions like being nearly immune to chemicals and such. Captain america certainly doesn't have anything on the physical feats of spiderman or marvel. When Spider-man needs to be, he can be stronger than Thor. The basic rule with spidey is that "He's stronger than everyone faster than him, and he's considerably faster than everyone stronger than him" with almost no real exceptions. The movies really don't do justice to just how insane spiderman is.

3:36 I got so excited the first time I heard the remix of the old spider-man theme in the intro. They did that to celebrate the return of spider-man. As for who produced and owns Spider-Man it actually makes things more complicated. That movie (and the other movies of the home trilogy) are produced by Disney/Marvel *but* Sony still has the rights to the Spider-verse properties so...a lot happened with artistic licenses, changes, fights between companies etc., before they settled with the arrangement they have now (it was decided between the movies Far From Hone and No Way Home). Back in the day, I'm pretty sure that was why Sony made The Amazing Spider-man in the first place. It was right after the success of The Avengers and felt Marvel would want the rights to spider-man back if they weren't using them. So they made TAS 1, and then TAS2. But then TAS 2 did poorly, and Marvel/Disney didn't wait for Sony to stop their use of spider-man before getting in talks to get the rights. So the first appearance of Spider-man in the MCU universe (in Civil War) coincided with the year The Amazing Spider-man 3 would've come out. Right now both Sony & Disney/Marvel are heavily cooperating to produce the spider-man (and other spider-verse) movies, almost coproducing them.

As much as I love Tom Holland's spidey, I kinda wish that this wasn't their first experience with the character. I feel like Maguire or Garfield's spidey would've been a better introduction to Spider-Man for them. This version is very different and sometimes feels like he isn't his own hero without Iron Man or the rest of the Avengers.

Spoiler for No Way Home……. I’ve always felt that way about the MCU Spider-Man but after watching the movie, I feel the character has been redeemed. In No Way Home, it feels like he actually makes technology out of Tony Stark’s resources to help the villains get back home instead of relying on Tony Stark’s AI to tell him step by step on what to do. Now that Aunt May is gone and his friends don’t remember who he is, it’s a fresh start for him and it’s fine for them to see how he goes from depending on Tony Stark’s technology in the first two movies to making it on his own near the end of NWH. It was great that they actually show him making his own Spider-Man costume (apart from the homemade suit from the first movie) instead of wearing the suits he got from Tony Stark.

Peter was bitten by a spider, and it gave him the proportionate strength of a spider (spiders being able to lift 137 times their weight), enhanced reflexes, the ability to stick to most surfaces, and the ability to sense danger to him (the spider sense). His webs were not part of that. He built the web shooters and makes the web fluid to stick to the theme of spiders

To clear up another piece of Monica's confusion about the classic Spiderman theme.....in 1966, there was a cartoon series about Spiderman. The theme song for that cartoon was this tune with the words "Spiderman! Spiderman! Does whatever a Spider can!....". That theme song has been parodied or snipped into various incarnations of the character ever since. That is where the "Spider Pig" theme that she remembers came from. Just like, when you watch the Robert Downey Ironman movie and Rhodey calls him on HIS cell phone.....that ring tone is the theme from the 1966 Ironman cartoon.

When you're feeling stressed try a stress ball to squeeze. The problem with Peter is he never listens to advice when it's given and only after it has been proven. Peter is perpetually the little kid that puts his finger in the fire after he is told not to cause it will hurt but ignores the advice and does it anyway except he just never learns to ever take the advice first ever.

I love how vulture, Michael Keaton, threatens Peter in the car before the dance bc spiderman is so INCREDIBLY strong and could easily rip his arms off or the car doors and beat him to death but he doesn't bc he's a good and moral man. He's soooo powerful but it's bridled power and that's the scariest of all, cuz once it's let loose, good night to anyone in his way. That's part of what makes spiderman such an amazing character bc he pulls his punches knowing he could kill someone with a single punch. Love his relationship with Iron Man too. The end credits scene about patience was also a reference to Infinity War and the massive hype monster that had already built up. Cap was lampshading the concern that it couldn't live up to expectations. Thankfully it was awesome. Also, I always wonder if the sabotaged press conference at the end is a reference to how Andrew Garfield got fired as Spiderman because he didn't show up to the 'new spiderman' announcement for Amazing Spiderman 3.

The newest MCU Spider-Man in the comics was originally a 14-15 year old kid. That's when he got his powers. "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse" is definitely a film worth seeing. Also, if you two are doing TV shows as well, "Daredevil" and some of the other Defenders shows are really good.

spider-man’s strength is off the charts to be honest. it’s said that he pulls his punches when fighting his enemies so he doesn’t accidentally kill them. in the superior spider man storyline, dr octopus switches bodies with peter parker and when he encounters scorpion (another spider-man enemy) he punches his jaw clean off of his face and comes to a realization on how powerful peter really is
@kenshinhimura8133

Yeah so getting bit by the Spider gives Peter the superhuman physicality, spider stickiness and spider sense. The web was always something Peter created on his own in the comics(The first Spiderman movie with Tobey Maguire changed that in its story). Also, about how strong Peter is in the comics. Spiderman is so strong that he has to dodge(its easy for him as well because he knows what's coming because of the spider sense and his lightning fast reflexes) when fighting human criminals. If he doesn't dodge and the criminals hit him, they would shatter their own bones. Peter also holds back a lot when fighting otherwise he would kill humans with a single punch. In the comics Spiderman has, on his own, defeated a whole team of X men and also defeated the Fantastic Four. Peter has also defeated/stopped Hulk(granted not stopped the extremely angry planetary level hulk) a few times as well. Peter can split apart buildings and tank missiles. There's a lot more stuff in comics. Spiderman is kind of "The hero" in Marvel comics. Yes, there is Captain America and Iron Man or Thor and universal/space things, Avengers and all but its like when we talk about DC its Superman or Batman. For marvel it has always been Spiderman. Avengers became more popular because of the MCU.

Funny you just posted this now on KZbin because I just saw Spider-Man: No Way Home for the 2nd time. I did not expect coming on here and seeing this reaction, LOL! Great timing! The only thing about this movie each time I see it that "bothers" me is both Tony and Happy are pretty much total jerks to Peter almost the entire movie. If anything, Peter was the one actually trying to be responsible and trying to inform Tony and Happy, who could have cared less. By the way, it was admitted years later after this movie that the dates given at the start of this movie was wrong and does not really match up quite right with the timeline of other events, which actually spawned off a bunch of cool fan theories on how the dates actually might be correct but the timeline itself was messed with. Ultimately, however, somebody just messed up. If you guys have not already done so, watch all the other previous Sony Spider-Man movies. That will help catch-up with a good chunk of the lore. There are also a few references made in this movie to those movies. Though, the cartoons cover a lot more of the lore. obviously. I love that Monica brought up the point those criminals who were in the school do not know who Peter is. I always ask that myself whenever I see this movie going, "Why you hiding? They don't know who you are". LOL! By the way, if nobody told you yet on here, the nephew that lives here in NY of that criminal Spidey interrogated is a reference to Miles Morales. The whole tension in that car between Liz's dad and Peter was priceless and great acting!

When Peter misinterprets Tony opening the door for him as hugging him and you made the comment about thinking someone is waving at you when it's the person behind you. I don't know if you've ever seen "Night At The Roxbury " but that based on what Chris Kattan actually saw happen in a club. That this girl out on the dance floor was motioning to this guy at the bar that she wanted to dance with him, and the guy was gesturing back to her, who she wanted to dance with her, him or the guy standing next to him. But he spent too much time trying to figure out who she was motioning to and she just turned around and walked away.
