Still think it's a sin that tyhere was no 3rd movie, with the twins at the lead :D They deserved a film themselves :)

It’s bullshit a third film hasn’t come out there was an idea for a story and Tamsin the girl who played Chelsea was hoping there was one. If there’s a tv special or a play made for part 3 instead that would be a positive

17:54 Apparently there's a seven year period where we don't know what happened to Shakespeare, and that's enough time to have a career in piracy. Plus, there are plenty of famous female pirates (in fact the most successful pirate was Ching Shih who went from being a prostitute to the wife of a pirate lord to basically commanding a navy, and since she couldn't be beaten or captured she was offered a full pardon and got to keep most of her money and grant a pardon for the majority of her crew and went on to run a gambling house in her home town and died an old lady in bed surrounded by her family - she also had very strict rules about how women were to be treated on her ship) and half of them dressed like a man.

There are 5 movies from the 50s, 60s and 80s that come before these two. 1954, The Belles of St trinians 1957, Blue murder at S.T. 1960, pure he'll of s.t. 1966, the great s.t. train robbery 1980, the wildcats of s.t. And a bonus one made by most of the same people about another all girls school from 1950 called The happiest days of your life.

^ This! ^ This is the comment I was looking for to bump up... there was a whole series from this, before the modern films... the cartoon books too! I grew up with my mum showing me OG St Trinians stuff, that's why I was so excited for these modern films, the 1st one was more true to the source material, but the 2nd did a better job bringing it up to modern movie standards

I loved the St Trinians movies. They are amazing but also bizarre at the same time, while also somehow being pretty fun heist movies. Wish they had made more and that the ones they did make would still be more accessible for people to watch

There's the original four from the 50s and 60s The Belles of St Trinians Blue Murder at St Trinians Pure Hell of St Trinians (arguably the weakest of the four) The Great St Trinians Train Robbery There's also the 80s movie 'The Wildcats of St Trinians' but it's basically the worst out of the entire franchise

Probably a silly question but have you watched the original 4 films from the 1950s and 1960s. Considering teenagers had only just been invented then they were pretty subversive.

They hit the Tower of London with the cannonball, which would probably be considered treason as it is still a Royal Palace, albeit one under the care of Historic Royal Palaces and therefore not in active use by the Royal Family, except as a repository for the Crown Jewels. I find it delightfully ironic in a film where the villains want to suppress women, a group of school-girls end up using a pirate ship to accidentally smash up a palace at the time owned by the late Queen, who was powerful enough to be able to overrule the Prime Minister on the use of weapons of mass destruction. Alas for the film-makers, 'St. Trinian's 2' wasn't particularly liked by critics, and doesn't have a great Rotten Tomatoes rating, despite taking a respectable amount at the Box Office, there is a point at which the audience is just not there for a brand that itself is a remake of a far gentler 1950s-60s series with Alistair Sim in the Rupert Everett part and the production houses behind this, Ealing and Fragile Films, may have thought there was franchise fatigue, which may explain why we didn't get St Trinian's 3 and this didn't really boost Sarah Harding's solo music career either. She likely must have hoped to repeat the trick Girl's Aloud did with 'Jump' on the 'Love Actually' soundtrack, which must have been part of the reason she did the film. She has 3 songs on the movie soundtrack, 2 original tracks she helped write, and a David Bowie cover 'Boys Keep Swinging'. She will forever sadly be someone who never quite reached their potential, and whose 40s and 50s after she'd aged out of the pop world and completed her process of getting her life in order, would probably have been far more artistically compelling than her 30s were. A real shame we shall never get to see any more music or acting from her. My sister will forever be devoted to Girl's Aloud, hence I developed a better-than-average knowledge of their oeuvre. To consider your earlier query: this film was released in 2009, which was towards the beginning of GA's hiatus which ended up lasting until the second half of 2012 (a lot longer than the year they initially planned), which is why they don't all appear, they were doing other things. At this time, Cheryl is trying to take over the music world starting with 'X Factor', Nicola put out her solo album 'Cinderella's Eyes' and did some TV work including 'Styled to Rock' for Rhianna, Nadine also put out a solo album 'Insatiable', Kim pursued a variety of different projects including 'Strictly Come Dancing', and Sarah decided to pursue acting, as well as breaking up with a fiancee towards the end of that time and ending up in rehab for part of it. Given Sarah was born in November 1981, she would be around 28 when the movie was made, or 10-11 years older than a girl would be in her last year of High School. It's not as bad as Stockard Channing who was 34 when she played Betty Rizzo in 'Grease', but it is definitely noticeable that they cast a woman who looks like a woman in the part. There were a few actors playing girls in the 23-26 age bracket, with Tallulah Riley as Annabelle about 2 years younger, or 26 at the time, and Gemma Arterton only 23 then. Name recognition probably helps explain the casting, and Sarah's public persona was as a wild child who partied a lot, a bit of a rock chick trapped in a pop star's body (played into with the guitar moment. I admit I am surprised she didn't really lean hard into the indie pop/pop rock angle and toured the country with a band to build up a market for her solo work, that feels a lot more organic and authentic to me than Cheryl's R'n'B thing or even participation in this, but that's just me). Sarah's casting here is probably a case of two brands converging to mutual advantage, even if you have to pretend she isn't a tiny bit old to basically play a younger version of herself, though she is also building her acting resume and contacts in film. The producers were just continuing on from what had gone before, given GA as the school band at the end of the first film was a natural meeting of brands - naughty school meets the somewhat naughty girl band. Casting the naughty one in the somewhat naughty girl band was so obvious for a film of this type Sarah's best acting work is probably in the BBC film 'Freefall' where she had a part as Dominic Cooper's girlfriend, whereas 'Run For Your Wife' (2012) may be the least funny movie ever made. On the other hand, I am David Tennant-ed out. My heart just feels a bit sad every time he returns to the part now, he is for me overrated in that role and is a bit too omnipresent on TV at the moment, I struggle to suspend disbelief now. The love is aided of the size of the TV audience at that time in franchise history and the existence of social media which wasn't there when Who was at its peak, not the quality of the stories because frankly, NOTHING is touching some of Tom Baker's best, 'Genesis of the Daleks', 'City of Death', 'Pyramids of Mars', and even Capaldi's 'Heaven Sent' is just better. I started watching 'Doctor Who' in the Classic era at the end of the 1980s, 'Who' for me is very different to what we get now and no one can compete with Tom Baker or Patrick Troughton, even if I do have a special place in my heart for Sylvester McCoy as my first Doctor.
